The mammalian yolk sac placenta [PDF]
AbstractThere are three fetal membranes in mammals, namely the yolk sac, allantois and amnion, but only the first two form a placenta. In Monotremata (monotremes), Marsupialia (marsupials) and Placentalia (eutherians), the yolk sac transfers nutrients originating from uterine glandular secretion or the maternal blood.

ABSTRACT Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a rare yet aggressive neoplasm that arises from mesothelial cells lining the thoracic and abdominal cavities, the pericardium, and the tunica testis. Characterized by rapid progression, high invasiveness, and a poor prognosis, MM poses significant clinical challenges. SMARCB1, also referred to as INI‐1, hSNF5, or

A comprehensive embryonic staging series of the turtle Trachemys scripta
Abstract Background Turtles hold a unique place in vertebrate evolutionary history, making them critical assets in embryology research. Yet, they remain understudied as potential model organisms in the field. Here, to support experimental manipulations with turtle embryos, we have created a complete normal table of development for comprehensive ...

Abstract Background CD163 is a scavenger receptor predominantly expressed on the surfaces of macrophages in various mammalian species and is a marker of anti‐inflammatory (M2‐like) macrophages. High density of CD163‐positive tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) is associated with worse prognosis in various patient tumors.

A rare case of primary mediastinal yolk sac tumor
Yolk sac tumor (endodermal sinus tumor) is a subtype of germ cell tumor and a highly malignant neoplasm. In addition to presenting in ovaries and testes, the tumor has been detected at several extragonadal sites, including the presacral area, the ...

Abstract Background Sporadic venous malformation (VM) is associated with the hyperactivating p.L914F mutation in TIE2, a receptor tyrosine kinase essential for vascular development. This mutation is not found in hereditary VM, suggesting incompatibility with life when expressed during early vascular development.
