Alternative Developmental Toxicity Screening Methods Using Chick Embryo‐Based Models

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nonclinical developmental toxicity studies are used to investigate the potential toxicities of drugs and chemical candidates on normal embryonic and fetal development during pregnancy, generally using mammalian laboratory animals such as rats and rabbits.

New Hydrazone Derivatives Featuring Isatin and Piperazine Moieties: Synthesis, Cytotoxicity Evaluation, and Molecular Modeling Studies

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, ten novel compounds (IPH1–IPH10) were designed by integrating three pharmacophores (isatin, piperazine, and hydrazone) commonly found in the molecular structures of anticancer agents. The target molecules were obtained by the reaction of in‐house prepared 4‐(4‐(pyridin/pyrimidin‐2‐yl)piperazin‐1‐yl)benzohydrazide with various ...

Yolk Sac Tumor of the Temporal Lobe: Case Report

open access: yesBrazilian Neurosurgery, 2015
Germ cell tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) are usually located along the midline. Yolk sac tumor is a rare germ cell tumor very uncommonly located outside the midline, and, in such cases, it can be mistaken with other primary tumors.

Histiocytosis development and clinical variation through the lens of genomics

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, EarlyView.
Abstract Histiocytic neoplasms are rare haematologic diseases characterised by clonal expansions of cells with a monocyte, macrophage or dendritic cell phenotype. Their clinical manifestations are diverse, ranging from indolent lesions to aggressive systemic disease.

A rare case of brain metastatic of primary mediastinal yolk sac tumor

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2023
Primary yolk sac tumors are extragonadal germ cell tumors commonly seen in children and young adults. They are more common in men. Germ cells tumor on histopathological characteristics is classified as seminoma and non-seminomatous (NSGC).

COX5A promotes cell progression and cisplatin‐resistance by alleviating mitochondrial dysfunction in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesPrecision Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
COX5A promotes cell progression and cisplatin‐resistance and alleviates mitochondrial dysfunction. ISG15 shows a reversing role with COX5A. Targeting the COX5A‐mediated mitochondrial metabolic pathway may offer a novel therapeutic approach to enhance cisplatin sensitivity in HNSCC.

Indications and Efficacy of Progestogen‐Monotherapy as Menopause Hormone Therapy: A Narrative Review

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) remains the most effective treatment for vasomotor symptoms (VMS) and other manifestations of menopause; however, its use is limited in women with contraindications to oestrogen. Progestogen monotherapy, though historically underutilized, represents a viable alternative in this population. This narrative review

Intracranial yolk sac tumor in an adult patient: MRI, diffusion-weighted imaging and 1H MR spectroscopy features [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2012
Introduction. Yolk sac tumors represent only 5%-7% of intracranial germ cell tumors, which comprise about 1% of all primary brain tumors in adults. Literature data about nonspecific imaging characteristics of these tumors are scant.

Comparative Molecular Insights into Developmental and Behavioral Toxicity Induced by Octocrylene and Ethylhexyl Salicylate Exposure on Zebrafish

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study compared the ecological toxicity of organic ultraviolet filters, octocrylene (OC) and ethylhexyl salicylate (EHS), on zebrafish embryos and larvae. EHS exhibited higher acute toxicity, causing increased mortality, hypoactive behavior at 50 mg/L, and disruptions in lipid homeostasis, while OC primarily affected hypoxia response and ...
