Evidence of a dual histogenetic pathway of sacrococcygeal teratomas [PDF]
Aims Sacrococcygeal teratomas are rare tumours that occur most frequently in neonates, although adult cases also occur. The molecular pathogenesis of these tumours and their long-term prognosis is uncertain.

Infection control in the brain and the eye
Abstract The Central Nervous System (CNS), comprising the brain and the eye, is considered to have a ‘privileged’ mechanism for dealing with immunological challenge (immune privilege, IP). CNS IP has been revealed through experiments using foreign protein antigens and cell and tissue alloantigens (grafts), but evidence for a role for IP in modulating ...

Our findings indicate that a pediatric/AYA‐specific targeted panel deployed in a hospital can deliver rapid, clinically actionable molecular insights with high diagnostic and prognostic yield. This complements larger sequencing platforms by offering speed, focused content, and easier interpretation.

Histiocytes: Multifaceted Regulators of Health and Disease
ABSTRACT The mononuclear phagocyte system encompasses macrophages, dendritic cells (DCs), and monocytes. Tissue‐resident macrophages and dendritic cells arise during embryogenesis and are replenished either through self‐renewal or by monocytes during inflammation.

Flk1-GFP BAC Tg Mice: An Animal Model for the Study of Blood Vessel Development [PDF]
The mouse Flk1 (also called Kdr or Vegf-r2) gene encodes a receptor for VEGF-A. Flk1 is expressed in endothelial cells of the developing embryo. Recent studies have shown that Flk1 is expressed by multi-potent mesodermal progenitors, which give rise to ...

Abstract figure legend Sodium thiosulfate (STS) rescues the pronephros phenotype of pdx1 morphants through compensatory upregulation of nitric oxide (NO) metabolism. Zebrafish larvae injected with a control morpholino show the typical pronephros structure at 48 h post‐fertilization (hpf) with and without STS treatment.

Chromosome X-encoded Cancer/Testis antigens are less frequently expressed in non-seminomatous germ cell tumors than in seminomas [PDF]
Cancer/Testis (CT) antigens are normally only expressed in germ cells and yet are aberrantly activated in a wide variety of human cancers. Most chromosome X-encoded CT antigens (CT-X) show restricted expression in pre-meiotic germ cells in adult testis ...
