The Young Star Clusters in S106

1994
Near-infrared imaging of a 10 × 10 arcmin region of the S106 molecular cloud reveals two embedded clusters coinciding with peaks in the CO emission. By counting foreground stars seen towards the molecular cloud, the distance to S106 is found to be 1.2±0.2 kpc. Assuming a theoretical mass-luminosity relationship for pre-main sequence stars, we find that

Search for B[e] Stars in Young Open Clusters

1998
The properties and the stellar content of five young open clusters have been investigated to identify new B[e] stars. After a detailed analysis we conclude that none of the ~ 260 relatively young early type stars can be identified as such. We propose that either the B[e] characteristic is not present in young stars or that due to the close proximity of

Model based clustering for young star clusters

2018
Model based clustering is a method of fitting finite mixtures models to data in order to identify clusters. It is widely used in many fields and has a variety of applications, one of those is the identification of young star clusters. We will examine four different models multivariate Gaussian, t, Skew Normal and Skew t mixtures and a method that ...

Young, Massive Star Clusters in the Antennae

2008
While massive star clusters have been detected in almost every galaxy with appreciable star formation, they are most prevalent in interacting and merging galaxies. As many as 95% of these clusters will ultimately be disrupted, often in the first 10 Myr, but those clusters that do survive may be the progenitors of globular clusters.
