The effects of various retention factors on the choice of where rural origin Umthombo Youth Development Foundation health science graduates work

open access: yesRural and Remote Health
Introduction: South Africa has an inequitable distribution of health workers between the public and private sector, with rural areas being historically underserved. As rural background of health workers has been advocated as the strongest predictor of

Multi‐Targeting Carnosic Acid Kills Drug‐Resistant Helicobacter pylori With Narrow‐Spectrum Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carnosic acid selectively eradicates drug‐resistant Helicobacter pylori through a multi‐targeted mechanism involving urease inhibition, membrane disruption, and biofilm eradication. It exhibits no detectable resistance, potent in vivo efficacy, and minimal impact on gut microbiota, positioning it as a promising narrow‐spectrum lead compound against ...

Nanopore‐Based Protein Deceleration and Sensing Using Graphene/Si3N4 Dual Membrane Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A graphene/Si3N4 dual membrane cavity system achieves multi‐stage protein deceleration through spatial geometry. Multi‐level current traces provide high‐resolution spatial localization and early warning signals. ABSTRACT Sequencing of protein with nanopores has emerged as a powerful tool offering rapid readout, high accuracy, low cost, and portability.

Boosting Ferroelectricity: 2D and Polymer Ferroelectric Hybrids Enabling Ambipolar Nonvolatile MoS2 Memory Transistor

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two‐dimensional CuInP2S6 nanosheets are incorporated into a P(VDF‐TrFE) matrix to induce polarization‐cooperative ferroelectric coupling. The resulting P(VDF‐TrFE)/CuInP2S6 hybrid film exhibits reinforced ferroelectric ordering and reduced coercive electric fields compared with pristine P(VDF‐TrFE).

Efficient Concentration and Complete Destruction of Short‐Chain and Emerging PFAS in Contaminated Water via Integrated Interface Engineering‐Enhanced Carbon Felt Sorption and Photochemical Processes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A closed‐loop “Concentrate‐Destroy” strategy is presented for completely eliminating short‐chain and emerging PFAS, in which the new 3D PPy@P‐CF is used for efficiently concentrating PFAS and Cu2+‐mediated photodegradation is applied for the completely destroying PFAS in the sorbent regeneration eluent.

High‐Performance Multi‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes‐Organic Passivated Si Solar Cells Enabled by Spatially Selective Harvesting of High‐Quality Sponges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our work achieves an efficiency breakthrough in MWCNTs/Si solar cells by screening high‐quality pristine MWCNTs without any separation or purification processes. This breakthrough is mainly attributed to the excellent dispersibility of Nafion and the excellent hole transport property of MWCNTs:Nafion film containing charge transfer doping, passivation,

Integrated Photoelectrode and Electrolyte Engineering via Carbon Quantum Dots for Self‐Powered H2O/O2‐Mediated Portable Photoelectrochemical Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Surface‐charged N‐CQDs serve as both electrolyte additives and photocathode modifiers. Electrodeposited N‐CQDs on Cu2O form a stable composite, steering 4e− ORR toward water. A quasi‐solid electrolyte with N‐CQDs aids charge migration, electrode‐electrolyte interfacial compatibility and replenishes active sites.

Natural Variation of COLD and CATECHINS REGULATOR 1 Coordinately Fine‐Tunes Cold Tolerance and Tea Quality in Tea Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multi‐trait genome‐wide association mapping identifies a central hub regulator, COLD AND CATECHINS REGULATOR 1 (CCR1), and its excellent natural allele variation, coordinately enhancing cold tolerance and promoting catechins biosyntheis. CsCCR1 interacts with CsCBF1/3 and is transcriptionally activated by CsLUX and CsKUA1 to promote catechins ...

AI‐Assisted Digital Single‐Molecule Activity Tracker for Decoupling Intrinsic Heterogeneity from Photo‐Oxidative Damage in High‐Photon‐Flux Enzymology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Employing a digital single‐molecule activity tracker (dSMAT), this research demonstrates that high‐photon‐flux irradiation drives progressive oxidative scarring in polymerases. Unlike simple thermal denaturation, real‐time kinetic tracking dynamically visualizes enzymes degrading into multiple impaired subpopulations.
