Heat Shielding of Steel With a Polyelectrolyte Coacervate Coating
A polyelectrolyte complex coacervate is reinforced with two types of nanoclay to create a heat shielding layer for steel that is low‐cost and efficient, yet applicable to a variety of civil infrastructure to aircraft components. The incorporation of clay into the coacervate aids in the formation of a reinforced char barrier during degradation ...

ABSTRACT Phase equilibria studies were undertaken on the FeO–FeO1.5–MgO and FeO–FeO1.5–MgO–SiO2 systems using equilibration and quenching technique followed by the electron probe x‐ray microanalysis (EPMA). The primary phase fields of spinel (Fe,Mg)Fe2O4, monoxide (Mg,Fe)O1+x, olivine (Mg,Fe)2SiO4, pyroxene (Mg,Fe)SiO3 (proto, ortho, and clino ...

Thermal Expansion of Yttria Stabilized Zirconia [PDF]
Today the state of the art material for Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs) is Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition (EB-PVD) Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ). As shown in the phase diagram by Scott different polymorphs of YSZ can be obtained by varying the Yttria content.

Hidden Complexity in Stress‐Induced Phase Transformations of CeO2–ZrO2 Ceramics
Using atomistic simulations, this study reveals that the tetragonal‐to‐monoclinic transformation in zirconia is more complex than previously thought. While pure bulk zirconia often becomes trapped in metastable phases, ceria doping and free surfaces facilitate the transformation into the stable phase, aligning with experimental data.

The effect of aging on the translucency of contemporary zirconia generations: in-vitro study
Background The translucency of different zirconia generations at each time point after thermocycling aging is still lacking. Methods Four zirconia materials were used with a total of 60 samples produced from monolithic third generation (5Y) 5 mol% yttria-
