The Defect Structure of Yttria Stabilized Zirconia
MRS Proceedings, 1985AbstractWe present results of EXAFS and computer simulation studies of the defect structure of yttria-stabilised zirconia. The results are analysed in terms of dopant-vacancy association models for this phase.

Continuous yttria‐stabilized zirconia fibers
Advanced Materials, 1996Polycrystalline oxide fibers have not yet been exploited to their full potential, perhaps because of difficulties with processability. In the successful new route for the production of continuous yttria‐stabilized zirconia fibers detailed here, ZrO2 particles sols are used as oxide‐forming components.

Ultrasonic attenuation in yttria-stabilized zirconia
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1999Abstract The acoustic attenuation at 10 MHz in yttria-stabilized zirconia (ZrO2(Y)) was measured at temperatures between 300 and 600 K. The attenuation curve showed a relaxation peak, from which the activation energy was estimated to be 0.7±0.07 eV , in good agreement with the value obtained from dielectric constant of 0.66±0.07 eV ...

Electrostatic dispersion of yttria-stabilized zirconia
Powder Technology, 1987Abstract These results merely indicate that the isoelectric point for this powder is substantially different than that commonly accepted for ‘stabilized zirconia’. It is recommended that this difference be taken into account in designing process systems for the material.

Vanadia reactions with yttria stabilized zirconia
Journal of Applied Physics, 1988The reaction of vanadia films with yttria stabilized single-crystal cubic and polycrystalline cubic-tetragonal zirconias was studied using Rutherford backscattering (RBS) and x-ray diffraction, with some selected depth profiling studies. Vandium on zirconia readily oxidizes at 500 °C to form vanadia films.

EXAFS Studies of Yttria Stabilized Zirconia
1984Yttria stabilized zirconia is a well known solid electrolyte which exhibits fast anion conduction at elevated temperatures. Below 1200° C pure zirconia (ZrO2) is monoclinic, but forms a stabilized cubic phase with the fluorite structure in a solid solution with 9.4 to 24 mole percent Y2O3.
