Outpatient Single-Session Yttrium-90 Glass Microsphere Radioembolization

Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2014
To investigate the feasibility of yttrium-90 ((90)Y) glass microsphere radioembolization (including angiography, lung shunt assessment, and treatment) as a single-session, outpatient procedure.Between January 2008 and June 2013, 14 patients underwent outpatient, single-session radioembolization with (90)Y glass microspheres.

Radioembolization (Yttrium-90 Microspheres) for Primary and Metastatic Hepatic Malignancies

The Cancer Journal, 2010
Radioembolization using radioactive yttrium-90-labeled microspheres is gaining a stronger foothold in the management of primary and metastatic hepatic cancers. The expanding literature reveals good and encouraging results in both retrospective and prospective reports as demonstrated by low acute or late toxicity and high response rates.

Yttrium-90 Glass Microspheres Injected Via the Portal Vein

Acta Radiologica, 1993
Nondegradable glass microspheres (35 μ) were injected into the portal vein for toxicity test in 15 rabbits. In 10 animals the microspheres were loaded with 90 Y, giving liver absorbed doses between 24.6 and 437.4 Gy, and in 5 with 89 Y (control group ...

Toxicity comparison of yttrium-90 resin and glass microspheres radioembolization

The Quarterly Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging
To investigate the clinical, hematological and biochemical toxicity differences between glass and resin yttrium-90 (90Y)-microspheres radioembolization treatment of primary and metastatic liver disease.Between May 2014 and November 2016 all consecutive glass and resin 90Y microspheres radioembolization treatments were retrospectively analyzed ...

Locoregional therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma: radioembolization with yttrium-90 microspheres.

Minerva gastroenterologica e dietologica, 2011
Compared with other malignant tumours, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) exhibits particular characteristics regarding its supplying vessels and tumour biology. If a potentially curative surgical approach, such as resection or liver transplantation, is due to technical or prognostical reasons no option, these characteristics are a fundamental prerequisite

HCC Radioembolization with Yttrium-90 Glass Microspheres (TheraSphere)

2018
Intraarterial radioembolization (RE) using microspheres labelled with the high-energy beta-emitter yttrium-90 (90Y) is an innovative local therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This procedure allows the tumour to be irradiated with a dose higher than that allowed by whole-liver external beam radiation treatment. The TheraSphere (TheraSphere_BTG®)

Treatment of liver tumors with yttrium-90 microspheres alone.

Canadian Association of Radiologists journal = Journal l'Association canadienne des radiologistes, 1989
Fifteen patients with liver metastases and one patient with hepatoma were treated by infusing 15 microns diameter plastic microspheres containing yttrium-90 into the hepatic artery. Twenty additional patients were screened but were found to be unsuitable for treatment. Follow-up angiography was done in 13 of the 16 treated patients.
