YY1 functions with INO80 to activate transcription

Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, 2007
Ubiquitously expressed transcription factor Yin-Yang-1 (YY1) controls expression of many genes. YY1 is tightly associated with the human ATP-dependent INO80-like chromatin-remodeling complex (INO80). INO80 is recruited by YY1 to YY1-activated genes, where it functions as an essential coactivator. Binding of YY1 to its DNA sites in target genes requires

YY1's Longer DNA-Binding Motifs

open access: yesGenomics, 2009
The DNA-binding sites of YY1 located within two newly identified downstream genes of YY1, Peg3 (GGCGCCATnTT) and Xist (CCGCCATnTT), are longer than the known motif of YY1 (CGCCATnTT). Gel shift assays indicated that these DNA-binding sites are previously unnoticed, longer motifs of YY1.

The roles of YY1 in reproductive system: an overview

Chemico-Biological Interactions
Yin Yang 1 (YY1) is a highly conserved multifunctional transcription factor with multiple biological functions including cell proliferation, differentiation and transcriptional regulation. In recent years, the discovery of the functional activity of YY1 in the reproductive tissues of animals, including humans has attracted more and more attention.

Overexpression of YY1 Regulates the Resistance of Cancer Stem Cells: Targeting YY1

2019
Most human cancers respond poorly to conventional therapeutics, and those that respond develop resistance to subsequent treatments. It has been reported that in many, but not all, studied cancers, there exists a mini population of cancer stem cells (CSCs) that is highly drug resistant and that its survival leads to recurrences and metastases.

The Role of YY1 in Prostate Cancer

2009
Abstract : We conducted renalgraft experiments to study the role of YY1 in prostate cancer. We used the mouse prostate epithelial cells (MPECs) with either depleted endogenous YY1 or overexpressed exogenous YY1. The grafts of YY1-depleted MPECs did not show significant growth.

YY1 positively regulates human UBIAD1 expression

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2015
Vitamin K is involved in bone formation and blood coagulation. Natural vitamin K compounds are composed of the plant form phylloquinone (vitamin K1) and a series of bacterial menaquionones (MK-n; vitamin K2). Menadione (vitamin K3) is an artificial vitamin K compound.

Diagnostic and Prognostic roles of YY1

2010
Several investigators have observed YY1 deregulation in numerous tumor types. YY1 overexpression and its role in cancer were largely discussed during all of the workshop sessions. The results reported underlined the diagnostic and prognostic significance of YY1 in solid and hematologic malignancies.
