The Distribution of Zinc in Low-Friction ZDDP Tribofilm on Iron Oxide

open access: yesTribology Online, 2009
To develop a low-friction and low-wear tribo-system for engine components, the authors have been studying the ZDDP tribofilm formed on iron oxide. Tribotests on iron-oxide / steel sliding pairs were performed in PAO with 1 mass% ZDDP.

Friction Modelling in Boundary Lubrication Considering the Effect of MoDTC and ZDDP in Engine Oils

open access: yesTribology Online, 2011
A predictive friction model has been developed in boundary lubrication conditions to understand the sensitivity of the model to molybdenum dithiocarbamate (MoDTC), a friction modifying additive and zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP), an antiwear additive

Influence of Dispersant and ZDDP on Soot Wear [PDF]

open access: yesTribology Letters, 2018
Diesel engines and gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines both produce soot due to incomplete combustion of the fuel and some enters the lubricant where it accumulates between drain intervals, promoting wear of rubbing engine components. Currently the most favoured mechanism for this wear is that the anti-wear additives present in engine oils ...

Impact of Fatty Triamine on Friction Reduction Performance of MoDTC Lubrication Additive

open access: yesLubricants, 2022
The impact of a fatty triamine (Triameen YT) additive was investigated on the friction performance and stability of molybdenum dithiocarbamate (MoDTC) in the formulations containing polyalphaolefin synthetic base oil (PAO) and zinc dialkyldithiophosphate

On the Crystallinity and Durability of ZDDP Tribofilm [PDF]

open access: yesTribology Letters, 2019
Abstract The current trend for using lower-viscosity lubricants with the aim of improving fuel economy of mechanical systems means that machine components are required to operate for longer periods in thin oil film, mixed lubrication conditions, where the risk of surface damage is increased. Consequently, the performance and durability of

Synergistic tribological effect between polyisobutylene succinimide-modified molybdenum oxide nanoparticle and zinc dialkyldithiophosphate for reducing friction and wear of diamond-like carbon coating under boundary lubrication

open access: yesFriction, 2023
Organic molybdenum lubricant additive like molybdenum dialkyl dithiocarbamate (MoDTC) can cause wear acceleration of diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating coupled with steel under boundary lubrication, which hinders its industrial application.

Mechanism of Friction and Wear in MoS2 and ZDDP/F-PTFE Greases under Spectrum Loading Conditions

open access: yesLubricants, 2015
Two different greases formulated using MoS2 and a combination of ZDDP and functionalized PTFE (F-PTFE) were examined under spectrum loading conditions where loads, frequency, and duration of the steps were treated as variables.

Tribochemical investigation of ZDDP tribofilm

open access: yes, 2021
The current trend for using lower-viscosity lubricants with the aim of improving fuel efficiency of mechanical systems means that machine components are required to operate for longer periods in thin oil film, mixed and boundary lubrication conditions, where the risk of surface damage is increased. For this reason, the role of tribofilms generated from
