N-methyl-N-nitrosourea induces zebrafish anomalous angiogenesis through Wnt/β-catenin pathway

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2022
N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) is a prevalent environmental carcinogen, which leads to tumors in various organs in animal models, while the mechanisms involved were still not fully understood.

m6A-dependent maternal mRNA clearance facilitates zebrafish maternal-to-zygotic transition

open access: yesNature, 2016
The maternal-to-zygotic transition (MZT) is one of the most profound and tightly orchestrated processes during the early life of embryos, yet factors that shape the temporal pattern of vertebrate MZT are largely unknown.

Investigating the Role of FGF8 Signaling in Neurogenesis of the Developing Zebrafish Eye [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In the embryonic zebrafish, the fibroblast growth factor 8a (FGF8) signaling network is essential for proper development and maintenance of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) as well as the hyaloid vasculature, the vessels that supply the eye with nutrients ...

A novel behavioral fish model of nociception for testing analgesics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Pain is a major symptom in many medical conditions, and often interferes significantly with a person's quality of life. Although a priority topic in medical research for many years, there are still few analgesic drugs approved for clinical use.

Engineered Genetic Circuits Activated by Bezafibrate Improve ESC‐Based TAA Cancer Vaccine Efficacy and PD‐L1 Nanobody Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Synthetic gene circuits regulated by bezafibrate are developed to express tumor antigens and PD‐L1 nanobody (PD‐L1nb), enhancing cancer immunotherapy. Delivered via HEK293T cells, ESCs, or directly injected the plasmids containing the circuit into the tumor, the circuits reduce tumor growth, boost CD8+ T cells, and minimize T cell exhaustion.

Microbial polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) for human health: A comprehensive review of evidence from in vivo preclinical models

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), including C18 PUFAs (linoleic [LA] and α-linolenic [ALA] acids) and their longer-chain derivatives (LC-PUFAs such as arachidonic [AA], eicosapentaenoic [EPA], and docosahexaenoic [DHA] acids), are essential nutrients ...

Developmental Effects and Estrogenicity of Bisphenol A Alternatives in a Zebrafish Embryo Model.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2018
In order to understand the negative effects of bisphenol A (BPA) alternatives comprehensively, zebrafish embryos were used to assess the lethality, developmental effects, and estrogenic activity of bisphenol analogues. The in silico estrogenic activities
