Protected Areas Have Not Halted Macrophyte Biodiversity Loss and Eutrophication in Northwest German Standing Waters

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 37, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Since the mid‐20th century, mean site‐level macrophyte richness declined by more than a quarter across 119 standing waters of various types in northwest Germany. Within protected areas, richness was consistently higher but declined at similar rates. Communities shifted towards eutrophic‐hypertrophic indicators, underscoring the need for catchment‐wide ...

Modeling of magnetic properties of A2BB′O6 compounds using ab initio and Monte Carlo methods

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 12, December 2025.
Ab initio and Monte Carlo simulations were employed to maximize the estimated Curie temperature of A2BB′O6 oxides. It was revealed that the element A ion radius should be as small as possible, while the magnetic moments of B and B′ elements should be as large as possible.

Genome-Wide Association Studies and Comparison of Models and Cross-Validation Strategies for Genomic Prediction of Quality Traits in Advanced Winter Wheat Breeding Lines

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
The aim of the this study was to identify SNP markers associated with five important wheat quality traits (grain protein content, Zeleny sedimentation, test weight, thousand-kernel weight, and falling number), and to investigate the predictive abilities ...

Parasitic plants in Europe: ecological niches and spatial patterns

open access: yesPlant Biology, Volume 27, Issue 7, Page 1285-1299, December 2025.
Parasitic plant functional types in Europe exhibit different distribution patterns in terms of habitats, geography, and major environmental gradients, reflecting their physiological properties. Abstract Parasitic plants inhabit a wide range of ecosystems worldwide, where they may have critical roles as “ecosystem engineers”.

Effects of Different Water Table Depth and Salinity Levels on Quality Traits of Bread Wheat

open access: yesAgriculture, 2021
Abiotic stress factors encountered in production lands influence both the yield and the quality traits of bread wheat. This study investigated the effects of three different water table depths (30, 55, and 80 cm) and four different groundwater salinity ...
