An Esterase Zymogram of Escherichia coli [PDF]

SUMMARY: The intracellular esterases of 25 strains of Escherichia coli, growing exponentially on a minimal medium, were analysed by the acrylamide-agarose zymogram technique. Five kinds of esterase bands were defined: three major bands (A, B and C) and two minor ones.

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF MAMMALIAN ESTERASES BY THE ZYMOGRAM METHOD [PDF]

A comparative study was made of the liver, kidney, and lung esterases of 20 different mammals, using the starch gel zymogram method. Differences in the organs of each species and the particular zymogram pattern of each animal are pointed out. The results obtained cannot be correlated with the phylogenetic position of the species studied.

Flowcytometric and Allozymic Studies on the Korean Dandelion (Taraxacum, Asteraceae), With Special Reference to the Hybrid Origin of Taraxacum coreanum Nakai

We found that the Korean tetraploid Taraxacum coreanum (Co) shows fixed heterozygosity at two dimeric enzyme loci, sod‐1 (aaab) and mdh‐1 (bddd). Allele‐specific comparisons indicate that sod‐1 ‘a’ and mdh‐1 ‘d’ are characteristic of the triploid T. mongolicum (Mo) whereas the ‘b’ alleles at both loci match Korean diploids (e.g., T. hallaisanense, Ha).

A Novel Polyphosphate‐Degrading Enzyme Confers Growth on Exogenous Polyphosphate in the Archaeon Haloferax volcanii

A novel polyP‐degrading enzyme with an activity differing from those currently known was found in Haloferax volcanii, conferring the ability for this microbe to grow on extracellular polyP. These findings further our understanding of the potential ecological roles of polyP and how archaea metabolise this essential biopolymer.

Antibody drug conjugates deliver their cytotoxic anti‐tubulin or topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads to tumors through cancer cell receptor targeting. The released drug payloads induce cellular changes that interact with radiotherapy resulting in radiosensitization that improves cancer cell kill and stimulates anti‐tumor immune responses.
