Sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibition and injection burden in mild diabetic macular edema: An exploratory post hoc analysis of the COMET trial

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 7, Page 1120-1131, July 2026.
Combining oral sodium‐glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors with reduced intravitreal injections of anti‐vascular endothelial growth factor showed potential efficacy for mild diabetic macular edema. ABSTRACT Aims To investigate the potential of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) as a less invasive treatment option for mild diabetic macular

Effect of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on heart failure readmission in older patients with diabetes: A Japanese claims‐based cohort study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 7, Page 1132-1141, July 2026.
SGLT2 inhibitor use at discharge was associated with a reduced risk of heart failure readmission in elderly patients with diabetes, with no significant differences among individual agents. ABSTRACT Aims To evaluate the effect of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) administration at hospital discharge on heart failure (HF) readmission ...

Dual Modeling for Optimization of Corosolic Acid Extraction Conditions From Lagerstroemia speciosa Leaves Using RSM and ANN–GA

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 7, July 2026.
Dual modeling of Lagerstroemia speciosa leaf extraction identified ethanol‐rich conditions for corosolic acid recovery. ANN–GA nominated a validated optimum at 98.3% ethanol and 106.5 min, yielding 0.974 ± 0.03 μg/mg corosolic acid with 2.3% relative error.

Genomic and Transcriptomic Analyses Provide Insights Into Erysiphe necator Pathogenicity and Grapevine Response

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 7, Page 4599-4618, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Grapevine powdery mildew, caused by the fungus Erysiphe necator, is one of the most prevalent obligate biotrophic pathogens in vineyards, posing a significant threat to grape production. Despite its impact, research on E. necator pathogenicity and grapevine responses remains limited.

Tolerance to Phosphorus Deficiency Improves Seed Phytic Acid‐to‐Iron Molar Ratios in Common Bean

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 7, Page 4152-4165, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Although significant advances have been achieved in the biofortification of common beans to overcome deficiencies in Zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe), the mechanisms involved remain poorly understood. We thus explored the relationships between phosphorus nutrition and Zn and Fe accumulation in four bean genotypes (Edar, Nizok, Colorado and Chimbolos ...
