Constituents From the Flowers of Viburnum macrocephalum f. macrocephalum and Their α‐Amylase and α‐Glucosidase Inhibitory Activities

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
Two new cadinane‑type sesquiterpenes, viburetones A and B, were isolated from Viburnum macrocephalum flowers, marking the first cadinane skeletons in this genus. Viburetone A showed dual α‑amylase and α‑glucosidase inhibition comparable to acarbose, and docking clarified its binding.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Multifunctional Bioactivity of ZnO/CuO@Amoxicillin Nanocomposites: A Synergistic Nano‐Platform With Potent Antioxidant, Anti‐Inflammatory, Antidiabetic, and Anti‐Cholinesterase Activities

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
ZnO/CuO@amoxicillin nanocomposite, synthesized via sol–gel route, demonstrates exceptional multifunctional performance. It strongly inhibits α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase, effectively suppresses inflammation, and exhibits superior antioxidant activity surpassing ascorbic acid.

The efficacy of switching basal-bolus insulin therapy to basal insulin-supported oral therapy with a glinide and an α-glucosidase inhibitor in patients with type 2 diabetes depends on insulin secretory capacity, but not on blood glucose profiles and insulin dosages prior to the switching. [PDF]

First Report on the Phytochemical and Pharmacological Properties of Hedysarum yilmazunalii

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
Hedysarum yilmazunalii was collected from Erzincan, Türkiye. The leaf, stem, and root parts were then used for methanolic extraction. The extracts were analyzed for their phytochemical composition by LC–MS/MS and tested for antioxidant, enzyme inhibitory, and antiproliferative activities.

Sulfonamide‐Based 2‐Amino‐1,3,4‐Oxadiazole Derivatives as Dual Cholinesterase and Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors: Design, Synthesis, Kinetic Characterization, Molecular Modeling, and ADMET Evaluation

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 87, Issue 6, September 2026.
ABSTRACT In this study, 12 novel sulfonamide derivatives incorporating 2‐amino‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole and 1,3‐benzazol‐2(3H)‐one scaffolds were synthesized and structurally characterized using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and LC–MS analyses. Their inhibitory activities were evaluated against acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), carbonic anhydrase I

Soil Microbial Assembly Mirrors a Savanna Mosaic Amid Plant Invasion and Soil Disturbance

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
Grasslands and woody patches supported distinct soil and microbial assemblages, consistent with differences in vegetation inputs and nutrient regimes. Grasslands exhibited relatively simple assembly patterns, with plant diversity closely associated with soil nutrients and comparatively homogeneous microbial communities.

Effects of Oral Semaglutide on Dietary Intake and Body Composition in Japanese People With Type 2 Diabetes: A Prospective Observational Study in Clinical Practice

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
This prospective observational study evaluated changes in dietary patterns and body composition after 3 months of oral semaglutide treatment in people with Type 2 diabetes. Oral semaglutide was associated with reduced energy intake, salt intake and body fat while preserving handgrip strength.

Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibitors Associated Heart Failure Events in Adult Patients With Type‐2 Diabetes Mellitus Treated With Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibitors: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
DPP‐4 Inhibitors associated withheart failure events in patients with type‐2 diabetes. This study found statistically insignificant summary effect for all DPP‐4 inhibitors combined but found asignificant association of saxagliptin with heart failure events (RR = 1.24, 95% CI 1.05–1.47). Results are to be interpreted with caution.
