Lewis Pair‐Engineered CuMnOx as Cold‐Adapted Multinanozyme for Cooperative Hydrolytic and Oxidative Degradation of Raw Corn Stalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Lewis pair site design strategy was established to construct Cu‐doped Mn‐based amorphous nanozymes, where Mn and oxygen vacancies generate cooperative acid‐base pairs. The resulting multinanozyme integrates glycosidase‐, oxidase‐, and cold‐adapted enzyme‐mimicking activities, enabling cooperative depolymerization of cellulose and hemicellulose ...

Biochemical characterization of digestive carbohydrases from Xanthogaleruca luteola and inhibition of its α-amylase by inhibitors extracted from the common bean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Xanthogaleruca luteola Müll. (Col.: Chrysomelidae) is a major urban insect pest on elm trees in Iran. Digestion in the alimentary canal of the elm leaf beetle is facilitated by some carbohydrases which are responsible for the digestion of ...

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

α-Amylase and α-Glucosidase Inhibition by Brown Seaweed (Sargassum sp) Extracts

open access: yesResearch Journal of Life Science, 2014
Inhibition of intestinal α-amylase and α-glucosidase is an important strategy to control post-prandial hyperglycemia associated with diabetes mellitus.

New records of potent in-vitro antidiabetic properties of Dalbergia tonkinensis heartwood and the bioactivity-guided isolation of active compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
[[abstract]]Alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activity has been commonly used for the evaluation of antidiabetic property in vitro. The aim of this study is to investigate and characterize Dalbergia tonkinensis as a potential source of antidiabetic compounds.

Polyphenol‐Based Biomaterials Against Cancer Radio/Chemotherapy‐Induced Intestinal Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy/chemotherapy often causes intestinal toxicity, impairing cancer patients’ quality of life and treatment efficacy. Polyphenols protect against this injury via multiple mechanisms, but face oral use limitations. This review outlines their protective mechanisms and delivery challenges, highlighting recent oral delivery advances and future ...

Advances in the synthesis of Homochiral (-)-1-azafagomine and (+)-5-epi-1-azafagomine. 1-N-phenyl carboxamide derivatives of both enantiomers of 1-azafagomine: leads for the synthesis of active α-Glycosidase inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
- A new expeditious preparation of homochiral (-)-1-azafagomine, and (+)-5-epi-1-azafagomine has been devised. Stoodley´s diastereoselective cycloaddition of dienes bearing a 2,3,4,6-tetraacetyl glucosyl chiral auxiliary to 4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazole-3,5 ...

Effects of Cellulase and Lactobacillus plantarum Supplementation on Fermentation Characteristics, In Situ Degradability, and Microbial Community Dynamics of Apple Pomace Silage

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of cellulase and Lactobacillus plantarum on the silage quality, in situ digestibility, and microbial communities of apple pomace silage. The combined supplementation of cellulase and Lactobacillus plantarum in apple pomace silage improved fermentation quality and enhanced rumen utilization efficiency.

Bioassay-guided isolation of Fenghuang Dancong tea constituents with α-glucosidase inhibition activities

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2022
An α-glucosidase inhibition assay showed the ethanolic extract of Fenghuang Dancong tea had potential α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. The most bioactive fraction, which was obtained via bioassay-guided isolation of the extract, was further purified to

A New Era for Using Natural Pigments: The Case of the C50 Carotenoid Called Bacterioruberin

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Haloarchaea are extremophilic microorganisms belonging to the Archaea domain that require high salt concentrations to live, thus inhabiting ecosystems like salty ponds, salty marshes, or extremely salty lagoons. They are more abundant and widely distributed worldwide than initially expected.
