Keratinocytes exposed to ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B radiation induce responses in melanocytes

Keratinocyte‐derived soluble factors regulate melanocyte responses following UV exposure. Conditioned medium from irradiated keratinocytes enhances melanocyte mitochondrial activity, cell proliferation, and cell cycle progression while improving survival after UVA‐induced damage.

The excited‐state antiaromaticity of hydroxybenzotropyliums (HBTs) can be tuned through substituent effects to bring the aromatic ‘enol’ (E) and keto (K) tautomers close in energy.
