Evaluation of Enzyme Inhibition and Kinetic Profiles of Origanum Essential Oils on Metabolic and Central Nervous System Targets

open access: yesNatural Sciences, Volume 6, Issue 3, July 2026.
The essential oils of three Origanum species were chemically characterized and evaluated for their antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory activities. The different compositions confer selective bioactivities: O. vulgare exhibits good antioxidant and α‐glucosidase inhibitory activity, O. majorana shows promising tyrosinase inhibition, and O.

Effects of Norbixin on Growth Performance, Immunomodulation, Antioxidant Systems, and Metabolic Alterations in the Oriental River Prawn (Macrobrachium nipponense): An Integrative Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Dietary norbixin (0.15 g/kg) optimally promotes growth, immunocompetence, antioxidant defence, gut microbial balance, carotenoid accumulation, and overall nutritional quality in Macrobrachium nipponense. ABSTRACT Background Natural carotenoids have gained considerable attention in aquaculture due to their potential to enhance growth performance ...

Synergistic Effects of Microwave and Osmotic Dehydration on Food Processing: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The combination of osmotic dehydration (OD) and microwave radiation (MW), referred to as microwave‐assisted osmotic dehydration (MWOD), has emerged as a promising hybrid strategy for optimizing food processing by enhancing mass transfer and preserving bioactive compounds.

Antioxidants in Plant‐Based Food Matrices: From Structure–Activity and Degradation Kinetics to Formulation Design

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant‐based antioxidants are widely incorporated into foods to retard oxidative deterioration and to deliver health‐related benefits. Yet, their in‐product and in vivo performance frequently diverges from predictions based on solution‐phase chemical assays, because matrix interactions, processing history, and host metabolism reshape both ...

SLCMV‐Encoded BC1 Protein Suppresses Photosynthesis by Disrupting Chloroplast Structure and Gene Expression

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
SLCMV infection suppresses photosynthesis by down‐regulating chloroplast‐ and photosystem‐related genes and disrupting chloroplast structure, a process largely mediated by the viral protein BC1. ABSTRACT Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV) is a highly destructive plant virus that poses a significant threat to cassava cultivation.

Sweet Potato Gene Clusters Control Anthocyanin Biosynthesis and Leaf Morphology

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 7, Page 4500-4527, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) exhibits diversity in pigmentation and leaf morphology, yet the genetic architecture and regulatory organisation underlying these traits remain poorly resolved, particularly with respect to organ‐specific control.
