Bacterial indole‐3‐butyric acid promotes fish PUFA synthesis

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are essential nutrients in aquatic products, yet the contribution of gut microbiota‐derived metabolites to PUFA biosynthesis remains largely unknown. In this study, a gut‐derived Bacillus strain was identified to enhance PUFA accumulation via indole‐3‐butyric acid (IBA) production.

A Porcine Model of Intervertebral Disc Injury Recapitulates Human Discogenic Pain Via Notochordal Cell Loss and Pain‐Inducing Nucleus Pulposus Cell Emergence

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
A porcine model of disc injury recapitulates key clinical, histological, and molecular features of human discogenic low back pain. Multi‐omics analyses identify a shift from notochordal cells to pain‐associated nucleus pulposus cells as a potential driver of disease progression. ABSTRACT Background Lower back pain (LBP) is one of the most common causes

Therapeutic Potential of Chickpea‐Derived Bioactives: A Review With Perspective of Different In Vitro, Animal, and Human Studies

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is an important dietary legume worldwide and provides micronutrients and phytochemicals, including phenolics, flavonoids, carotenoids, bioactive peptides, dietary fiber, and resistant starch. This narrative review summarizes evidence from in vitro, animal, and human studies on the potential health relevance of ...

Early‐Life Dietary Protein Source Reshapes Gut Microbiota but Fails to Curtail Diet‐Induced Metabolic Syndrome in Young Rats

open access: yesObesity, Volume 34, Issue 9, Page 1772-1784, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Dairy consumption plays a protective role in obesity that may be mediated through the gut microbiota. This study examined the role of dairy proteins, casein, whey, and complete dairy (skim milk powder), and a plant‐based alternative, soy, on gut microbiota composition, obesity susceptibility, and insulin sensitivity in early ...

Synthesis of Chalcone‐Sulfonamide Hybrids as Antibacterial, Antioxidant, and Anti‐Inflammatory Agents With Comprehensive In Silico and ADMET Profiling

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2026.
Eight chalcone‐sulfonamide hybrids (12a–h) are synthesized via Claisen–Schmidt condensation and evaluated for antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti‐inflammatory activity. The compounds show potent radical scavenging, strong protein‐denaturation inhibition surpassing diclofenac, and favorable docking against DHPS, myeloperoxidase, COX‐2, and ...
