Mechanical Properties of 3-Hydroxybutyric Acid-Induced Vesicles
The vesicle mechanical behaviors were studied upon its exposure to 3-hydroxybutyric acid using an atomic force microscope (AFM). Dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and 3-hydroxybutyric acid were used to manufacture the vesicles at their desired ratio.

Synthesis, Characterisation and Detection of Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate Salts. [PDF]
Sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium salts of gamma-hydroxybutyrate have been synthesised from gamma-butyrolactone and the corresponding group 1 or 2 hydroxide. Although the group 2 salts are non-hygroscopic, FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis

Analysis of 3-hydroxyisovaleric acid and 3-hydroxybutyric acid in plasma samples by LC-MS/MS
Down syndrome is a common genetic disorder that results from the presence of an extra chromosome in the 21st chromosome pair of humans. Metabolomics is an alternative method in discovery of new biomarkers for the screening and diagnosis of Down syndrome.

Mechanism of Enhancement of the Release Rate of Aclarubicin from Poly-β-hydroxybutyric Acid Microspheres by Fatty Acid Esters [PDF]
Poly-β-hydroxybutyric acid (PHB) microspheres containing aclarubicin hydrochloride were prepared by a solvent-evaporation process. The release rates of the drug from the microspheres were significantly increased by incorporating ethyl or n-butyl esters ...

Inhibition of in vitro CO2 production and lipid synthesis by 2-hydroxybutyric acid in rat brain [PDF]
2-Hydroxybutyric acid appears at high concentrations in situations related to deficient energy metabolism (e.g., birth asphyxia) and also in inherited metabolic diseases affecting the central nervous system during neonatal development, such as "cerebral"

A possible role of poly-3-hydroxybutyric acid in antibiotic production in Streptomyces
The occurrence of poly-3-hydroxybutyric acid (PHB) in 12 different strains of the genusStreptomyces was investigated. Gas chromatographic estimation indicated that all the strains produced PHB and the range of maximum PHB accumulation was between 1.5 and
