Antibacterial Activity of Culture Extracts of Penicillium chrysogenum PCL501: Effects of Carbon Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Penicillium chrysogenum PCL501 produced β-lactam antibiotics when fermented with different agro-wastes: cassava shavings, corncob, sawdust and sugarcane pulp.

β‐Lactam allergy testing and delabeling—Experiences and lessons from Singapore

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, 2020
Background β‐Lactam allergy is over‐reported and this leads to greater healthcare costs. Allergy testing has inherent risks, yet patients who test negative may continue avoiding β‐lactams.

Profiles of phenotype resistance to antibiotic other than β-lactams in Klebsiella pneumoniae ESBLs-producers, carrying blaSHV genes.

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2011
Extended spectrum β-lactamases production is one of the most common mechanism of resistance to extended spectrum β-lactam antibiotics is increasing worldwide. Twenty five strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from clinical specimens were tested. Based on the phenotypic confirmatory test all these strains were defined as ESBL producers named ESBL(+).

Conjugation of Polycationic Peptides Extends the Efficacy Spectrum of β‐Lactam Antibiotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Antibiotic‐resistant enterococci represent a significant global health challenge. Unfortunately, most β‐lactam antibiotics are not applicable for enterococcal infections due to intrinsic resistance.

Antibiotic resistance in enterobacteriaceae isolated from Portuguese deli meats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study aimed to identify the presence of β-lactam-resistant bacteria in different types of Portuguese deli meats. The numbers of ampicillin resistant bacteria varied from negative in 25 g to 1.0 × 108colony-forming units/g.

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...

In vitro activity of cefiderocol against European Enterobacterales, including isolates resistant to meropenem and recentβ-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales represent a major health threat and have few approved therapeutic options. Enterobacterales isolates were collected from hospitalized inpatients from 49 sites in six European countries (1 January–31 December 2020 ...
