This study shows a strong correlation between the β‐lactam susceptibility profile of a clinical isolate of Nocardia cyriacigeorgica and the activity of its β‐lactamase, NCY‐1. Inhibitors of NCY‐1 reduce the minimum inhibitory concentration of amoxicillin.

Heterogeneous hydrolytic features for OXA-48-like β-lactamases [PDF]
Objectives: Carbapenem-hydrolysing class D β-lactamases of the OXA-48 type are increasingly reported from Enterobacteriaceae. β-Lactamase OXA-48 hydrolyses penicillins very efficiently, but carbapenems only weakly and spares broad-spectrum ...

SegDesign: A modular framework for controllable protein segment engineering
Abstract Local protein structure engineering, such as targeted remodeling of loops or flexible regions, is critical for mechanistic studies and protein optimization but remains challenging to perform in a controllable and reproducible manner. Despite advances in protein foundation models and generative structure design, most existing methods emphasize ...

The use of mNGS with the MinION tool clearly provides a significant advantage compared to routine culture by identifying a higher diversity of pathogens in diabetic foot osteomyelitis. It also highlights the value of this method in clinical decision making, despite the technical challenges inherent in metagenomic sequencing.

Abstract Aims Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) represents one of the most common chronic liver disorders worldwide, and its incidence continues to rise each year. Serine β‐lactamase‐like protein (LACTB) is a serine protease that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and hepatocellular carcinoma, but its function in ...
