The effect of electroacupuncture at ST25 on Parkinson's disease constipation through regulation of autophagy in the enteric nervous system

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 306, Issue 12, Page 3214-3228, December 2023., 2023
Abstract The effectiveness and safety of electroacupuncture (EA) for constipation have been confirmed by numerous clinical studies and experiments, and there are also studies on the efficacy of EA for Parkinson's disease (PD) motor symptoms. However, there are few researches on EA for PD constipation.

Associations of per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substance concentrations in the blood of Amur tigers and physiological parameters

open access: yesWildlife Letters, Volume 1, Issue 4, Page 163-170, December 2023., 2023
Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), especially long‐chain perfluorinated carboxylates and perfluorinated sulfonic acids, were considered as global environmental contaminants due to their wide industrial and commercial applications and their threat to human and animal health.

Fatty acid β‐oxidation and mitochondrial fusion are involved in cardiac microvascular endothelial cell protection induced by glucagon receptor antagonism in diabetic mice

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 12, Page 1081-1094, December 2023., 2023
Highlights Glucagon receptor (GCGR) monoclonal antibody (mAb) improves cardiac function and attenuates microvascular damage in db/db mice. GCGR mAb ameliorates the oxidative stress of cardiac microvascular endothelial cells in diabetic mice. GCGR mAb counteracts the diabetes‐induced upregulation of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1B, optic atrophy type ...

Plasma mitochondrial DNA is elevated in maternal serum at first trimester and may serve as a biomarker for prediction of gestational diabetes mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 12, Page 1095-1102, December 2023., 2023
Highlights In the first trimester, the plasma mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) was higher in women who developed gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) than in women who did not develop GDM during their pregnancy. The increased levels of plasma mtDNA were independent of age and fasting plasma glucose levels in the first trimester.

Stress hyperglycemia ratio is associated with systemic inflammation and clinical outcomes in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia on admission

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 7, Page 545-556, July 2023., 2023
Highlights High stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR) was associated with elevated systematic inflammation in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia on admission. In the absence of hypoglycemia on admission, SHR was of J‐shaped associations with adverse clinical outcomes in diabetic inpatients with pneumonia of different severity.

Autophagy in the retinal neurovascular unit: New perspectives into diabetic retinopathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 5, Page 382-396, May 2023., 2023
HighlightsAutophagy is closely related to retinal neurovascular units in diabetes retinopathy. Different cells participate in the occurrence and development of diseases through autophagy, and targeted autophagy may be a new direction of treatment in the future. Emphasized the close relationship between diabetic retinopathy (DR) and autophagy Summarized

Noninvasive genetic monitoring of Chinese pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) from Darjeeling district of Northwest Bengal, India

open access: yesWildlife Letters, Volume 1, Issue 1, Page 15-22, March 2023., 2023
Image of Chinese pangolin from study areas (top left), sampling location map (top right). Median joining network of Chinese pangolin population (size of circles represents the relative frequency of that haplotype present in the population). B) Demographic history of Chinese pangolin population estimated using Bayesian skyline plot.

Engineering a Tumor‐Targeted MgH2@Lip/PD‐L1 Nanoplatform for Synergistic Hydrogen Therapy and Immune Activation

open access: yesRare Metals, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer‐related deaths worldwide, yet immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) is often compromised by an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) with acidosis, hypoxia, and poor T cell infiltration. Here, we develop a TME‐responsive nanoplatform (MgH2@Lip/PD‐L1) that couples hydrogen gas therapy with PD ...

Using miniaturized laboratory equipment and DNA barcoding to improve conservation genetics training and identify illegally traded species

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Illegal wildlife trade (IWT) is one of the largest global illegal activities, and it negatively affects biodiversity and sustainable development worldwide. DNA barcoding coupled with high‐throughput sequencing (i.e., metabarcoding) is useful in identifying taxa affected by IWT and has been used routinely for decades.

Endogenous/Exogenous Dual‐Responsive Bimetallic Hollow Nanozyme for Photothermal/Nanocatalysis/Immune Synergistic Tumor Therapy

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Nanozymes have attracted considerable attention in cancer therapy due to their adjustable enzyme activity and high catalytic efficiency. However, they still face a major challenge from tumor metastasis. In this work, endogenous/exogenous dual‐responsive bimetallic hollow PdRu (termed HPdRu) nanozymes were prepared.
