Highlights Time‐specific diet is a novel nutritional approach to prevent and treat cardiometabolic disease. Feeding‐fasting cycles shape gut microbial composition and metabolite production. These alterations may play a causative role in driving the cardiometabolic benefits of intermittent fasting.
