ABSTRACT Gynaecological malignancies account for over 1.4 million new diagnoses, with outcomes constrained by late‐stage presentation and chemoresistance. Dysregulated redox homeostasis is a hallmark of tumourigenesis. Tumour cells maintain elevated basal reactive oxygen species (ROS), which support proliferative signalling but may also increase ...

Enterohepatic physiology of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3. [PDF]
After intravenous administration of radiolabeled 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 to rats, approximately 25% of the administered radioactivity appeared in the bile within 24 h. Instillation of the biliary radioactivity into the duodena of other rats was followed by recovery of 15% of the radioactivity in newly secreted bile within 24 h.

Vitamin D is an essential fat‐soluble nutrient primarily obtained through cutaneous synthesis triggered by ultraviolet exposure and dietary intake. After systemic metabolism and activation, it binds to vitamin D receptors widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous systems, exerting pleiotropic neuroprotective and regulatory biological ...

Background/Aims: A recent study has shown that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25-D3), the active form of vitamin D, can ameliorate renal dysfunction. In this study, we aimed to determine the role of 1,25-D3 in angiotensin (Ang II)-induced renal injury and ...

Deletion of Ift20 and Wwtr1 in osteoprecursors promoted adipogenic differentiation while suppressing osteogenesis and bone remodeling through dysregulation of TGF‐β signaling. Mechanistically, Ift20 stabilized TβRII by inhibiting c‐Cbl‐mediated ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. In parallel, Wwtr1 functioned as a transcriptional regulator that

Iron and Other Metal Ions in Human Health and Disease
Iron, copper, zinc, and calcium orchestrate cellular function through distinct yet cooperative mechanisms: redox‐active iron and copper cycle between oxidation states to act as Fenton catalysts and electron carriers in oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS); redox‐inert zinc serves as a structural component of zinc‐finger proteins and a catalytic cofactor ...

Maternal vitamin D deficiency (VDD) affects early brain development in a sex‐dependent manner. VDD accelerates neuronal differentiation and synaptogenesis. Male offspring exhibit broader transcriptomic alterations, including dysregulation of melanocortin‐pathway and synaptic signaling genes, indicating greater vulnerability of hypothalamic circuits ...

Role of vitamin D receptor in the regulation of CYP3A gene expression
Vitamin D3 (VD3) is a multifunctional nutrient which can be either synthesized or absorbed from the diet. It plays a pivotal role in systemic calcium and phosphate homeostasis, as well as in various physiological and pathological processes.
