Vitamin D Deficiency During Pregnancy Is Associated With Greater LDL‐C Increase, Elevated β‐Hydroxybutyrate and Altered Neonatal Metabolic Markers—A Secondary, Pooled Analysis of the Randomized, Controlled Vitamin D and Lifestyle for Gestational Diabetes Prevention Trial (DALI)

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
Early pregnancy vitamin D deficiency in women with overweight or obesity is associated with greater increases in LDL cholesterol and ketone bodies during gestation, as well as higher cord blood ketone levels in offspring. These findings suggest a role of maternal vitamin D status in shaping metabolic adaptations in pregnancy and fetal exposure ...

Comparison of Traditional Chinese Exercise and Equipment‐Based Exercise on Glycaemic Control and Vitamin D Levels in Middle‐Aged and Elderly Patients With Prediabetes: A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
In middle‐aged and elderly patients with prediabetes, both Traditional Chinese Exercise (Baduanjin) and equipment‐based exercise improved glycaemic control and significantly raised serum 25(OH)D3 (+60.6% to +81.9%) over 12 weeks. KEE showed larger numerical changes, but direct comparison did not establish superiority over TCE.

Elevated 1-α Hydroxylase Activity in Monocytes from Patients with Active Tuberculosis

open access: yesClinical and Developmental Immunology, 2013
A uremic patient developed hypercalcemia after tuberculosis infection, and his ionized calcium levels correlated with 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3) levels. We performed further studies to determine whether monocytes are alternative sites of 1,25(

Hypercalcemia in a Patient With Spinal Tuberculosis and Aspergillus Co‐Infection: A Case‐Report

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Tuberculosis (TB), one of the leading infectious causes of mortality worldwide, may disseminate hematogenously and result in extrapulmonary manifestations. Spinal tuberculosis (ST) is an uncommon but serious form of extrapulmonary TB.

Lithocholic acid derivatives act as selective vitamin D receptor modulators without inducing hypercalcemia

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2008
1α,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 [1,25(OH)2D3], a vitamin D receptor (VDR) ligand, regulates calcium homeostasis and also exhibits noncalcemic actions on immunity and cell differentiation. In addition to disorders of bone and calcium metabolism, VDR ligands are

Individual and Combined Cardioprotective Effects of 1,25(OH)2D3 and Dimethyl Fumarate in an Isoproterenol‐Induced Myocardial Injury Model

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 9, September 2026.
1,25(OH)2D3 and dimethyl fumarate, administered alone or in combination, provide significant cardioprotection against isoproterenol‐induced myocardial injury by reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and structural damage through modulation of the Nrf2/NF‐κB signaling pathways and the renin–angiotensin system (RAS).

Protection from chemotherapy-induced alopecia by 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3

open access: yes, 1992
We have previously reported that several biological agents, when given simultaneously with cytosine arabinoside or cytoxan, will protect from cytosine arabinoside-induced but not from cytoxan-induced alopecia. In the present study we used the secosteroid

Supraphysiological 25‐Hydroxyvitamin D3 and Calcipotriol Induce Reactive Oxygen Species, Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Apoptosis in HeLa Cervical Cancer Cells

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 8, Issue 9, September 2026.
Supraphysiological 25(OH)D3 and calcipotriol induced ROS accumulation or redox disturbance, increased mitochondrial membrane depolarization, reduced antioxidant enzyme activity, and caused apoptotic cell death in HeLa cells. ABSTRACT Cervical cancer remains a major global health challenge, necessitating continued advances in therapeutic strategies ...

Use of Intralipid Therapy and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in the Management of Cholecalciferol Rodenticide Exposure in a Dog: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 696-702, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To describe the presentation and outcome of a case of suspected cholecalciferol rodenticide intoxication managed with both intralipid emulsion (ILE) and therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE). Case Summary A 3‐year‐old, neutered female, crossbreed dog presented for acute‐onset vomiting and lethargy after suspected exposure to ...

Induction of acyl-coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase-1 by 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 or 9-cis-retinoic acid in undifferentiated THP-1 cells

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
We have previously shown that acyl-coenzyme A: cholesterol acyltransferase-1 (ACAT-1) protein content increases significantly during the human monocyte-macrophage differentiation process.
