Toll-Like Receptor Signaling in Bovine Macrophages Increases 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 Production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recognition of pathogen associated molecular patterns by Toll-like receptors (TLR) increases 1α-hydroxylase expression in bovine macrophages. This results in increased conversion of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3) to 1,25- dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)

Sublattice‐Resolved Magnetoelastic Coupling and Opposing Pressure Responses in the Frustrated Magnetocaloric GdMn2O5

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In GdMn2O5, sublattice‐resolved EXAFS and diffraction analysis reveal pronounced spin‐phonon coupling and an unexpected opposing pressure response: the Mn‐driven Néel temperature slightly decreases while the Gd‐sublattice ordering temperature rises under pressures up to 0.86 GPa.

Radical, Not Ionic: The Mechanochemical Zincke Nitration of Phenols

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Mechanochemistry recasts the classical Zincke nitration as an open‐shell process. Liquid‐assisted vibrational milling of phenols with in situ HNO2 delivers direct and ipso nitration across 50 substrates, while atmosphere, NOx‐transfer, EPR and DFT evidence expose a phenoxyl‐radical/NO2 manifold underlying this historically ionic transformation ...

Nonlinear Quantum Effects Drive Grotthuss Proton Conduction in Structured Electrolytes Based on Deep Eutectic Solvents

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that the inverse relationship between viscosity and conductivity in structured electrolytes can be circumvented by leveraging their hydrogen bonding networks for Grotthuss proton transport. Using a mixture of imidazole and levulinic acid, we show that the existence of extended hydrogen‐bonded chains that can rapidly reorient result in ...

Cobalt‐Catalyzed [2σ+2π] Cycloaddition via Site‐Selective Capture of Bicyclobutane Diradical

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report a Co(II)‐catalyzed strategy that combines thermal activation of bicyclo[1.1.0]butane (BCBs) with site‐selective radical capture to furnish head‐to‐head fused bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes via [2σ+2π] cycloaddition with indoles. Detailed mechanistic studies (31P NMR, EPR, CV, and DFT) support the catalytic pathway, while phosphine‐oxide trapping and X‐

1α,25(OH)2D3 Induces Actin Depolymerization in Endometrial Carcinoma Cells by Targeting RAC1 and PAK1

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2016
Background: Cell proliferation and motility require actin reorganization, which is under control of various signalling pathways including ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1 (RAC1), p21 protein-activated kinase 1 (PAK1) and actin related protein 2

1α, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 inhibits transforming growth factor β1-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition via β-catenin pathway

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2020
. Background:. The transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1)-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been proven associated with the pathogenesis of asthmatic airway remodeling, in which the Wnt/β-catenin pathway plays an important role, notably

POSTOPERATIVE HYPOCALCEMIA IN PRIMARY HYPERPARATHYROIDISM -- THE STATISTIC OBSERVATION AND THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF 1α-OH-D3 -- [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Postoperative hypocalcemia in primary hyperparathyroidism, an unavoidable complication, was studied statistically. Two types were recognized in the pattern of the postoperative hypocalcemia.
