1, 9 PA downregulates HIF-1α in a PHD- and HIF-1α ODD-dependent manner.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) Requirement of O2 and Fe2+ in the 1, 9 PA-induced downregulation of HIF-1α. A431 cells were untreated or treated with 10 µM 1, 9 PA in 0.5% FBS culture medium under normoxic conditions in the absence or presence of DFO (100 µM) or MG132 (10 µM), and ...

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

The estrogen-related receptor α (ERRα) functions in PPARγ coactivator 1α (PGC-1α)-induced mitochondrial biogenesis

open access: yes, 2004
Estrogen-related receptor α (ERRα) is one of the first orphan nuclear receptors to be identified, yet its physiological functions are still unclear. We show here that ERRα is an effector of the transcriptional coactivator PGC-1α [peroxisome proliferator ...

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Senescence-related circRNA circHIF-1α is associated with pancreatic cancer progression

open access: yesCancer Cell International
Recently, there has been growing interest in the role of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in the progression of human cancers. Cellular senescence, a known anti-tumour mechanism, has been observed in several types of cancer.

Chromosomal Localization of the Human Interleukin 1α (IL-1α) Gene

open access: yes, 1988
The human interleukin 1α gene was assigned to chromosome 2 using Southern transfer analysis of human-rodent somatic cell hybrid DNAs. The gene was regionally localized to 2q12–21 using in situ hybridization to metaphase chromosomes.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

HIF-1α is involved in the regulation of MUC5AC expression.

open access: yes, 2014
When HIF-1α expression is increased, MUC5AC expression is induced; conversely, when HIF-1α expression is decreased, MUC5AC expression is reduced accordingly. (A) Gain-of-function study with mammalian HIF-1α expression vector in NCI-H292 cells. DNA of the

Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.
