ATP antagonizes thrombin-induced signal transduction through 12(S)-HETE and cAMP. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
In this study we have investigated the role of extracellular ATP on thrombin induced-platelet aggregation (TIPA) in washed human platelets. ATP inhibited TIPA in a dose-dependent manner and this inhibition was abolished by apyrase but not by adenosine ...

Circulating oxylipin and bile acid profiles of dexmedetomidine, propofol, sevoflurane, and S-ketamine: a randomised controlled trial using tandem mass spectrometry. [PDF]

open access: yesBJA Open, 2022
Background: This exploratory study aimed to investigate whether dexmedetomidine, propofol, sevoflurane, and S-ketamine affect oxylipins and bile acids, which are functionally diverse molecules with possible connections to cellular bioenergetics, immune ...

Contrasting in vitro lymphocyte chemotactic activity of the hydroxyl enantiomers of 12-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid. [PDF]

open access: yesBr J Pharmacol, 1988
The chemotactic activity of 12(R)‐hydroxy‐5,8,10,14‐eicosatetraenoic acid (12(R)‐HETE), 12(S)‐HETE and leukotriene B4 (LTB4) for human mixed peripheral blood lymphocytes has been assessed in a 48‐well microchemotaxis assay. Responses to the standard lymphocyte chemoattractants, zymosan‐activated plasma, casein and N‐formyl‐methionyl‐leucyl ...

Metabolomics reveals pro-inflammatory effects of 12R-HETE and ALOX12B in maternal allergic asthma [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Approximately 10% of pregnant women worldwide suffer from asthma, significantly increasing risks like preterm birth, low birth weight, and gestational hypertension. Current diagnostic methods are limited in early detection, underscoring the need for more

Deactivation of 12(S)-HETE through (ω-1)-hydroxylation and β-oxidation in alternatively activated macrophages [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2018
Polarization of macrophages to proinflammatory M1 and to antiinflammatory alternatively activated M2 states has physiological implications in the development of experimental hypertension and other pathological conditions.

Arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase and 12-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid contribute to stromal aging-induced progression of pancreatic cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Biol Chem, 2020
The incidence of pancreatic cancer increases with age, suggesting that chronological aging is a significant risk factor for this disease. Fibroblasts are the major nonmalignant cell type in the stroma of human pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

Biology and pharmacology of platelet-type 12-lipoxygenase in platelets, cancer cells, and their crosstalk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Platelet-type lipoxygenase (pl12-LOX), encoded by ALOX12, catalyzes the production of the lipid mediator 12Shydroperoxyeicosa-5,8,10,14-tetraenoic acid (12S-HpETE), which is quickly reduced by cellular peroxidases to form 12(S)-hydroxy-5,8,10,14 ...

Metabolism of 12(S)-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid by kidney and liver peroxisomes.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1993
12(S)-Hydroperoxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid (12(S)-HPETE) is one of the main products formed from arachidonic acid by animal lipoxygenases. It is usually reduced to the corresponding hydroxy acid, 12(S)-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid (12(S)

Cutaneous Responses to 12-Hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic Acid (12-HETE)

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1985
The responses to 12-HETE in normal human skin have been investigated by means of intradermal and topical administration in 15 subjects. Intradermal infusion of 12-HETE produced a neutrophil polymorphonuclear and mononuclear infiltrate in the dermis. Topical administration resulted in a dose-related erythematous response to 200 ng-50 micrograms.
