Stimulation of Phospholipase A2 by Toxic Main Group Heavy Metals: Partly Dependent on G‐proteins?

open access: yesMetal-Based Drugs, Volume 2, Issue 2, Page 91-98, 1995., 1994
Organometals induce platelet aggregation and inorganic metal ions such as Cd2+ or Pb2+ sensitise human blood platelets to aggregating agents and this action is associated with the liberation of arachidonic acid and eicosanoid formation. The same mechanism is observed using human leukaemia cells (HL‐60) when treated with MeHgCl or Et3PbCl .

12-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid (12-HETE) does not stimulate proliferation of human neonatal keratinocytes

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1989
We have developed an assay to study the effect of drugs on the proliferation of neonatal human skin-derived keratinocytes in vitro. Expanding populations of neonatal keratinocytes were cultured in low concentrations (0.5%) of fetal calf serum for up to 12 d.

Cyclic GMP Metabolism in Psoriasis: Activation of Soluble Epidermal Guanylate Cyclase by Arachidonic Acid and 12-Hydroxy-5,8,10,14-Eicosatetraenoic Acid

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1980
Soluble guanylate cyclase activity was measured in normal and psoriatic human epidermis. The specific activity of guanylate cyclase was determined to be increased 10-fold and 3-fold in involved and uninvolved epidermis of psoriatics, respectively, compared to normal epidermis.

Mechanism for the formation of dihydro metabolites of 12-hydroxyeicosanoids. Conversion of leukotriene B4 and 12-hydroxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid to 12-oxo intermediates.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1991
Eicosanoids containing a 12-hydroxyl group preceded by at least two conjugated double bonds are metabolized to 10,11-dihydro and 10,11-dihydro-12-oxo products by porcine polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNL) (Wainwright, S. L., Falck, J. R., Yadagiri, P., and Powell, W. S. (1990) Biochemistry 29, 10126-10135). These 10,11-dihydro metabolites could either
