Evolutionary Systematics of Two Co‐Occurring Paludomid Freshwater Gastropods in Thailand (Cerithioidea: Paludomidae)

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 55, Issue 2, Page 244-272, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Paludomidae is a diverse family of limnic gastropods in the Cerithioidea, with a distribution range including most of tropical sub‐Saharan Africa, the Nile Valley, Madagascar, the Seychelles, as well as South and Southeast Asia. Its systematics and taxonomy are currently in a state of confusion, with Thailand being inhabited by probably two ...

Targeting Staphylococcus aureus Biofilms Through Aurisin Derivatives From Neonothopanus nambi of African Origin

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study describes the isolation and characterization of potent bioactive compounds from the fungal strain Neonothopanus nambi, followed by structural elucidation. The compounds shown are dimeric aristolane‐type sesquiterpenoids, identified as aurisins D (1) and B (2).

Investigating Anthropogenic and Social Influences on Diet of Semi‐Urban Vervet Monkeys Using DNA Metabarcoding

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
We used eDNA metabarcoding of faecal samples to quantify the dietary composition of two vervet monkey populations in a semi‐urban environment in South Africa over a 4‐month period, and compared these results with visual observations. We found that both methods yielded similar results, but eDNA metabarcoding revealed a greater diversity of consumed taxa.

Microbial‐Immune Interplay in CNS Autoimmune Diseases: Lessons from Animal Models and Clinical Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 2, February 2026.
Mechanism of action of the intestinal microbiota on CNS autoimmune diseases. Environmental factors shape gut microbiota composition; dysbiosis alters microbial metabolites and antigenic signals. These modulate innate and adaptive immunity, affect barrier integrity, and influence CNS‐resident cells such as microglia and astrocytes, contributing to ...

Nexus of Whey Proteins, Gut Dysbiosis, and Colonic Health

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Whey proteins possess antimicrobial and prebiotic properties that modulate gut microbiota by promoting beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacterium while suppressing pathogens. This modulation enhances short‐chain fatty acid production and strengthens intestinal barrier integrity, potentially alleviating dysbiosis‐related conditions such as colitis and ...

Wild Prunus cerasifera Ehrh. Polyphenols Alleviate Hyperglycemia in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Mice via Modulating Gut Microbiota‐SCFAs‐PI3K/Akt/TBC1D4 Pathway

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
WPPE treatment significantly alleviated type 2 diabetes by improving SCFAs and gut microbiota composition and promoted glycogen synthesis by regulating the PI3K/AKT/TBC1D4 pathway. WPPE also improved liver function and reduced oxidative stress and inflammation. ABSTRACT Our previous work demonstrated that wild Prunus cerasifera Ehrh.
