16S rDNA analysis of the intestinal microbes in osteoporotic rats
This study aimed to reveal the differences in intestinal microbes in osteoporotic rats. The rats were divided into two groups: the control and OP (osteoporosis) groups (n=6). Days 0 and 70 were set as the time points. The rats in the OP group underwent bilateral ovariectomy (OVX).

Enumeration, identification and characterisation of methanogens colonising pre-ruminant calves : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
Methane-producing archaea, methanogens, in ruminant animals are a major source of anthropogenic methane. With a global warming potential 23 times greater than carbon dioxide, methane has been targeted for reduction under the Kyoto protocol.

Paenibacillus brasilensis sp nov., a novel nitrogen-fixing species isolated from the maize rhizosphere in Brazil [PDF]
Sixteen nitrogen-fixing strains isolated from the rhizosphere of maize planted in Cerrado soil, Brazil, which showed morphological and biochemical characteristics similar to the gas-forming Paenibacillus spp., were phenotypically and genetically ...

16S rDNA Sequence Analysis of Xylella fastidiosa Strains
The 16S rDNA encoding the small subunit ribosomal RNA were amplified by PCR, cloned, and sequenced from 16 strains of Xylella fastidiosa originating from nine different hosts. In pair-wise comparisons, X. fastidiosa strains showed a maximum variation of 1.0% or 14 nucleotide positions.

Cloning and sequencing of 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rDNA internal spacer region (ISR) from urease-positive thermophilic Campylobacter (UPTC) [PDF]
To clone and sequence the 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rDNA internal spacer region (ISR) from urease-positive thermophilic Campylobacter (UPTC).The primer sets for 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rDNA ISR amplified almost the full length of 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rDNA ISR. About 1500 bp for 16S rDNA and about 720 bp for 16S-23S rDNA ISR of the rrn operon of four strains of

We established a spheroid coculture system enabling viable Porphyromonas gingivalis–HNSCC interactions under normoxic conditions. Inhibition of LATS1/2 maintains tumor cells in an undifferentiated state, which may promote spheroid growth and create a more permissive environment for bacterial persistence.
