O- and N-Difluoromethylation of 2-Pyridones with Chlorodifluoromethane
Difluoromethylation of various 2-pyridones with the available industrial reagent chlorodifluoromethane (Freon-22) has been studied. Some relationships between the ratio of difluoromethylation products and the reaction conditions, as well as the presence ...

Photochemistry of Aromatic N‐Oxides in Water Probed by Time‐Resolved X‐ray Absorption Spectroscopy
Time‐resolved XAS at the nitrogen and oxygen K‐edges is applied to the photorearrangement of two N‐oxides in water. Pyridine N‐oxide rapidly forms the oxaziridine isomer. Pyridazine N‐oxide undergoes ring opening to the diazo compound, without any evidence of intermediates.

A Straightforward Synthesis of Functionalized cis-Perhydroisoquinolin-1-ones
Base-catalyzed annulation reactions of 5,6-dihydro-2(1H)-pyridones with Nazarov-type reagents are reported. The effect of the solvent polarity and the concentration of the reagents is studied.

An “on‐water” scalable Pd‐catalyzed heteroannulation delivers benzofurans and furopyridines at ultralow catalyst loadings (down to 0.005 mol%), providing products essentially free of palladium residues. In addition to a broad substrate scope (aryl, alkenyl, and alkyl alkynes with o‐iodophenols or 2‐iodo‐3‐hydroxypyridines), this protocol enables a new ...

Green and Eco-Friendly Multicomponent Synthesis of 2-Hydroxypyridines Under Free Solvent Conditions
2-Hydroxypyridines (or commonly named 2-pyridones) are widespread nitrogen heterocycles in natural and synthetic products and their applications in biological, pharmaceutical and agrochemical compounds are becoming increasingly important.

Unlocking Stereodefined Olefins by Z‐Selective Transition Metals‐catalyzed C−H Activations
The synthesis of Z‐olefins is an important challenge in synthetic organic chemistry. Within this review, we report a comprehensive overview of transition metals‐catalyzed Z‐selective C–H activations of (hetero)arenes for the synthesis of stereodefined olefins.

Pellagra in Contemporary Clinical Practice (2000–2023): A Systematic Review
This systematic review (2000–2023) of 1212 cases highlights pellagra's evolving etiology. While primary dietary deficiency (85%) persists in humanitarian crises, secondary forms from alcohol misuse (9.6%), isoniazid (14.3% of drug‐related cases), and malabsorption are rising.

Kristallstruktur eines 2-Dimethylamino-3,3-dimethyl-4(3H)-pyridons
3-Dimethylamino-2,2-dimethyl-2H-azirine (1) reacts with alkyl phenyl substituted cyclopropenones 2 in benzene at 130 °C to give a mixture of the two isomeric 4(3H)-pyridones 3 and 4, resulting from a nucleophilic attack at C(2) and C(1) of the ...

Phenacylation of 6-Methyl-Beta-Nitropyridin-2-Ones and Further Heterocyclization of Products
Reaction between the derivatives of 6-methyl-beta-nitropyridin-2-one and phenacyl bromides was studied, and the yields observed were extremely low. The pyridones were converted via chloropyridines to methoxyderivatives, which were N-phenacylated.
