CD69 is a TGF-β/1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 target gene in monocytes [PDF]
CD69 is a transmembrane lectin that can be expressed on most hematopoietic cells. In monocytes, it has been functionally linked to the 5-lipoxygenase pathway in which the leukotrienes, a class of highly potent inflammatory mediators, are produced ...

ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF CLONES OF A HUMAN LEUKEMIA CELL LINE (HL-60 CELLS) RESISTANT TO 1α,25-DIHYDROXYVITAMIN D3 AND DIMETHYL SULFOXIDE [PDF]
We have previously demonstrated that HL-60 cells pretreated with 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 at the stage of commitment were induced to differentiate into macrophage- like cells by dimethyl sulfoxide (OMSO) at the stage of promotion (15).

Plasma was obtained from normal laying hens, 30 weeks of age, and from laying hens, 60 weeks of age, with fatty liver syndrome (FLS). The 60-week-old hens were divided into two groups based on whether they were laying or nonlaying. Plasma phosphorus and calcium was significantly higher for hens with FLS.

Background Vitamin D deficiency is diagnosed by total serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentration and is associated with poor health and increased mortality; however, some populations have low 25(OH) D concentrations without manifestations of ...

In vitro Effects of Biologically Active Vitamin D on Myogenesis: A Systematic Review
Vitamin D (VD) deficiency is associated with muscle weakness. A reduction in the incidence of falls in the elderly following VD supplementation and identification of the VD receptor within muscle cells suggests a direct effect of VD on muscle, but little

Alfacalcidol (1α-hydroxyvitamin D3) has been widely used since 1981 as a prodrug for calcitriol (1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3) in the treatment of hypocalcemia, chronic renal failure, hypoparathyroidism and osteoporosis.

Abstract In this communication we describe the synthesis of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D 3 -3β-bromoacetate [1,25(OH) 2 -BE], an analog of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D 3 [1,25(OH) 2 D 3 ], as a part of our ongoing interest in characterizing the hormone-binding domain of the 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D 3 receptor (VDR).

The future of vitamin D analogs
The active form of vitamin D3, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, is a major regulator of bone and calcium homeostasis. In addition, this hormone also inhibits the proliferation and stimulates the differentiation of normal as well as malignant cells ...

Functional conformations of the nuclear 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 receptor [PDF]
The nuclear hormone 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (VD) has important cell regulatory functions. Various synthetic VD analogues are under investigation to identify candidates with an improved therapeutic profile against hyperproliferative diseases. VD directly activates the transcription factor VD receptor (VDR), which in turn stimulates the expression of a
