The concentrations of (24R)-24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3[24,25(OH)2D3], 25-hydroxyvitamin D3[25(OH)D3] and its 3-sulphate [25(OH)D3(3)S] in the plasma of healthy subjects, patients with chronic renal failure, patients with climacteric syndrome, pregnant women and foetuses were determined using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and high-performance ...

The renal function of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3-1α-hydroxylase
Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1999The active, hormonal form of vitamin D, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25(OH)2D3) has numerous pleiotropic actions including the regulation of calcium homeostasis, control of bone cell differentiation and modification of immune responses. Synthesis of 1,25(OH)2D3 from the major circulating metabolite, 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3), is catalysed by the ...

Regulation of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 metabolism in chick embryo
American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1987We investigated the time course of the development of renal 25-hydroxyvitamin D-1-hydroxylase and 25-hydroxyvitamin D-24-hydroxylase in chick embryos grown in the presence and absence of the eggshell. In embryos with the eggshell, the specific activity (SA) of 25-hydroxyvitamin D-1-hydroxylase in kidney homogenates increased from 0.68 fmol X min-1 X mg

Analogs of 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 and 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3
1979Following the discovery of 25-OH-D3 interest has been generated in analogs of vitamin D possessing the 25-hydroxyl function. In a sense the dihydrotachysterols, the 5,6-trans-25-OH-D3, and the isotachysterols discussed above can be considered as analogs of either 25-OH-D3 or l,25-(OH)2D3.

Publisher Summary This chapter describes the procedures which individually measures vitamins D 2 , vitamin D 3 , 25-hydroxyvitamin D 3 (25-OHD 2 ), and 25-hydroxyvitamin D 3 (25-OHD 3 ) in human milk. Two milliliters of whole milk is placed in a 50-ml screw-top glass centrifuge tube.

[Concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 in Antarctica].
Medicina clinica, 1992Ultraviolet B radiation decidedly influences the synthesis of vitamin D and therefore mineral and bone metabolism. It must also be taken into account that a normal unsupplemented diet is usually deficient in this vitamin. Two groups of subjects pertaining to the Spanish Antarctic Expedition 1988-1989 were studied to determine whether special conditions
