Reconstruction for 3D immersive virtual environments

2012 13th International Workshop on Image Analysis for Multimedia Interactive Services, 2012
The future of tele-conferencing is towards multi-party 3D Tele-Immersion (TI) and TI environments that can support realistic inter-personal communications and virtual interaction among participants. In this paper, we address two important issues, pertinent to TI environments.

3D Global Virtual Teaming Environment

Fourth International Conference on Creating, Connecting and Collaborating through Computing (C5'06), 2006
Based on research conducted at a large multinational corporation, we identified several unique requirements for global team collaboration. Our findings included that two-thirds of employees work on distributed teams and the same percentage also work on multiple teams.

Sensor Representation in 3D Virtual Environments

Proceedings of the 2015 International Conference on Big Data Applications and Services, 2015
Various types of physical sensors are currently being used in the real world, and it is expected that the number of sensors and their types will increase with advancements in physical sensor technologies. Physical sensors integrate with 3D virtual worlds by way of information convergence technologies, including mixed and augmented reality.

3D reconstruction of environments for virtual collaboration

Proceedings Fourth IEEE Workshop on Applications of Computer Vision. WACV'98 (Cat. No.98EX201), 2002
In this paper we address an application of computer vision which can in the future change completely our way of communicating over the network. We present our version of a testbed for telecollaboration. It is based on a highly accurate and precise stereo algorithm.

3D sound memory in virtual environments

2014 IEEE Symposium on 3D User Interfaces (3DUI), 2014
Virtual auditory environments (VAEs) are created by processing digital sounds such that they convey a 3D location to the listener. This technology has the potential to augment systems in which an operator tracks the positions of targets. Prior work has established that listeners can locate sounds in VAEs, however less is known concerning listener ...

A Virtual Environment for 3D Facial Makeup

2007
We simulate the application of facial makeup in 3D by means of multi-sensory interaction which integrates a haptic interface with stereo visual perception. We aim to allow a user to simulate the facial makeup within an immersive virtual environment.

Virtual hand: a 3D tactile interface to virtual environments

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
We introduce a novel system that allows users to experience the sensation of touch in a computer graphics environment. In this system, the user places his/her hand on an array of pins, which is moved about space on a 6 degree-of-freedom robot arm. The surface of the pins defines a surface in the virtual world.

Shared 3D environments within a virtual prototyping environment

Proceedings of WET ICE '96. IEEE 5th Workshop on Enabling Technologies; Infrastucture for Collaborative Enterprises, 1996
The goal of the Virtual Prototyping Environment (VPE) is to decrease product development time and costs and to increase quality and flexibility by providing continuous computer support for the development cycle. Virtual prototypes are directly derived from integrated CAD systems, enriched with simulation data.

Crowd Simulation in 3D Virtual Environments

2016
Realistic animation of agents’ activities in a 3D virtual environment has many useful applications, for examples, creative industries, urban planning, military simulation and disaster management. It is tedious to manually pre-program each agent’s actions, its interactions with other agents and with the environment. Simulation is a good approach in this
