A Soft Robotic Model for Simulating Heart Valve Disease and Cardiac Interventions
This paper introduces a fully synthetic fabrication methodology for a soft robotic, in‐vitro model of the left‐heart, complete with a functioning mitral valve apparatus. With a view towards patient‐specific modeling, we demonstrate physiological flow and pressure waveforms, tunable mitral valve function with clinical imaging compatibility, and its use ...

Gravitational signals emitted by a point mass orbiting a neutron star: a perturbative approach
We compute the energy spectra of the gravitational signals emitted when a pointlike mass moves on a closed orbit around a non rotating neutron star, inducing a perturbation of its gravitational field and its internal structure. The Einstein equations and

q-hypergeometric double sums as mock theta functions [PDF]
Recently, Bringmann and Kane established two new Bailey pairs and used them to relate certain q-hypergeometric series to real quadratic fields. We show how these pairs give rise to new mock theta functions in the form of q-hypergeometric double sums ...

Swiss 3R Competence Centre: Promoting the 3Rs implementation
This contribution describes the history and activity of the Swiss 3R Competence Centre (3RCC), which has been founded in 2018. Among the most relevant activities, a call for project proposals on 3Rs was launched in 2018, with 47 proposals received for selection, followed by a call for nominations for a 3Rs award, which will be announced in Sept.

Editorial: 3Rs approach (replace, reduce and refine animal models) to improve preclinical research
“3Rs”means Replacement, Reduction, Refinement, a conception developed more than 50 years ago to improve welfare of animals used in research. This concept should be widely known by biomedical researchers, being a fundamental principle of investigations ...

ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

Exploring resilience capacities with food innovators: a narrative approach
We interviewed grassroots food innovators in South Africa to explore the diverse ways in which their narratives expressed different capacities for resilience, such as dealing with surprise and shaping desirable change. We drew on key resilience themes of

Ergodic Transformations of the Space of $p$-adic Integers
Let $\mathcal L_1$ be the set of all mappings $f\colon\Z_p\Z_p$ of the space of all $p$-adic integers $\Z_p$ into itself that satisfy Lipschitz condition with a constant 1.
