Pyridone-based nucleotide analogues accepted for DNA biosynthesis

open access: yes, 2017
Novel pyridone-based nucleotides were investigated for maintenance of DNA synthesis, carried on by representatives of different classes of polymerases. Five different nucleoside triphosphates of similar structure were addressed, demonstrating involvement

Examining the safety of nicotinamide for skin cancer prevention: Review of adverse events, metabolism, and toxic dosages

open access: yesJAAD Reviews
Nicotinamide (niacinamide) supplementation for non-melanoma skin cancer prevention has sparked controversy over the past decade due to its inconsistent evidence of chemoprevention and its recently challenged safety profile.

Toxicity of six plant extracts and two pyridone alkaloids from Ricinus communis against the malaria vector Anopheles gambiae

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2014
Background The African malaria vector, Anopheles gambiae s.s., is known to feed selectively on certain plants for sugar sources. However, the adaptive significance of this behaviour especially on how the extracts of such plants impact on the fitness of ...

4-Pyridone-3-carboxamide-1-β-d-ribonucleoside Triphosphate (4PyTP), a Novel NAD+ Metabolite Accumulating in Erythrocytes of Uremic Children: A Biomarker for a Toxic NAD+ Analogue in Other Tissues?

open access: yesToxins, 2011
We have identified a novel nucleotide, 4-pyridone 3/5-carboxamide ribonucleoside triphosphate (4PyTP), which accumulates in human erythrocytes during renal failure.

Well isolated copper(II) pyrazine-bridged chains: synthesis and magneto-structural analysis of 2-halo-4-pyridone perchlorate complexes

open access: yes
Two new coordination polymers, [Cu(pz)(L)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (L = 2-Cl- (1) or 2-Br-4-pyridone (2); pz = pyrazine), have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, EPR and variable temperature magnetic measurements.

Pyridone-substituted Pyridyl imines as Functionalised ligands in Coordination Chemistry and Catalysis

open access: yes, 2018
In this thesis, the synthesis and coordination chemistry of a series of novel NNN and NN proton responsive ligands are described. All the ligands and complexes have been characterized by a combination of multinuclear NMR spectroscopic techniques, mass ...

Chemistry of Nitroquinolones and Synthetic Application to Unnatural 1-Methyl-2-quinolone Derivatives

open access: yesMolecules, 2010
The 1-methyl-2-quinolone (MeQone) framework is often found in alkaloids and recently attention was drawn to unnatural MeQone derivatives with the aim of finding new biologically active compounds, however, low reactivity of the MeQone framework prevents ...

Studies on 4-Pyrones and 4-Pyridones. I. The Preparation of 1-Aryl-3-hydroxy-4-pyridones and Related Compounds

open access: yesCroatica Chemica Acta, 1962
By condensation rnf meconic acid, comenic acid, or comenic acid methyl ether with primary aromatic amines, 1-aryl-5-hydroxy-4- -pyridone-2-carboxylic acids, or their methyl ethers, were obtained with satisfactory yields. Decarboxylation of the acids yielded 1-aryl-3-hydroxy-4-pyridones or the corresponding 1-aryl-3- -methoxy-4-pyridones.
