Design of an active 4ws system with physical uncertainties
Control Engineering Practice, 1995Abstract In this paper a new approach to the design of an active four-wheel-steered (4WS) control system is introduced. The problems of the conventionally used LQ-controller-based virtual model following control strategies are analyzed, and several problems are addressed.

Proposal of active information supplement platform based on 4W information
2012 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII), 2012This paper proposes, for the purpose of offsetting the limited capability of the heterogeneous sensors stationed in the environment to collect the user information, the active information supplement framework. In this framework, the communication robots used for offering services to users are utilized as new sensors to actively collect user information

Optimized coordination of brakes and active steering for a 4WS passenger car
ISA Transactions, 2012Optimum coordination of individual brakes and front/rear steering subsystems is presented. The integrated control strategy consists of three modules. A coordinated high-level control determines the body forces/moment required to achieve vehicle motion objectives.

The 4W (What-Where-When-Who) Project Goes Social
2012 Sixth International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing, 2012The 4W (What-Where-When-Who)project has demonstrated that the combination of rich content delivering devices, such as smart phones, together wireless broadband networking and server side computational power can be used to seamlessly weave a mesh of smart services and intelligent environments providing support to human memory capabilities. Our system is

GPS/encoder based precise navigation for a 4WS mobile robot
7th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision, 2002. ICARCV 2002., 2004In this paper, position and orientation estimation with high accuracy based on GPS and encoders for a four-wheel-steering vehicle (4WS) mobile robot is addressed. An architecture of position and orientation estimation is proposed, which consists of two Extended Kalman Filters and a processing unit of Runga-Kutta-based dead reckoning.

Research on Control Algorithm for DYC and Integrated Control with 4WS
2009 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Natural Computing, 2009The best advantage of the DYC is it can greatly improve vehicle handling and stability. It is proposed integrated control of four wheel steering systems (4WS) and direct yaw moment control. A desirable vehicle model is established with the best performance of side slip angle and yaw rate.

Development and Evaluation of Vehicle Simulation Models for a 4WS Application
Vehicle System Dynamics, 1995SUMMARY In the scope of the European Prometheus project a passenger car with active rear wheel steering was developed by TNO in cooperation with PSA. During development and engineering of the rear wheel steering system simulation tools have been used to reduce development costs.

Robustness to Speed of 4WS Vehicles for Yaw and Lateral Dynamics
Vehicle System Dynamics, 1997SUMMARY This paper addresses the issue of robustness and closed loop performance of four wheel steering (4WS) vehicles for yaw and lateral maneuvers for fixed and non-fixed speeds. A feedback structure derived from the plant inverse dynamic, such that the vehicle 2×2 matrix transfer function is robust to speed, is proposed.
