ALAS2 Prevents Neonatal Necrotizing Enterocolitis by Improving Ferroptosis in Intestinal Epithelial Cells Through Inhibition of Oxidative Stress [PDF]

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation
Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is an intestinal disease that occurs in the neonatal period. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of 5′-aminolevulinate synthase 2 (ALAS2) in NEC-induced intestinal injury.

5‐Aminolevulinic‐Acid Synthetase of Rhodopseudomonas spheroides Y [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1973
The two species of 5‐aminolevulinic acid synthetase were purified about 4200‐fold for fraction I and about 2000‐fold for fraction II. They were obtained homogenous in disc electrophoresis. These two enzymes have the same molecular weight (about 100 000) and contain one molar equivalent of pyridoxal phosphate.

5-Aminolevulinic-Acid Synthetases from Rhodopseudomonas spheroides Y. Comparison of the Purification and Properties of Enzymes Extracted from Bacteria Grown in Different Iron Concentrations [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1975
The two 5-aminolevulinic acid synthetases of Rhodopseudomonas spheroides Y. were extracted from cells grown in a 'low-iron' medium and purified. They have a specific activity 10-fold higher than the 'high-iron' enzymes described by us previously and have the same properties except that they do not contain any iron and have one free-SH group more per ...

Complex formation between glutamyl‐tRNA synthetase and glutamyl‐ tRNA reductase during the tRNA‐dependent synthesis of 5‐aminolevulinic acid in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1992
The formation of a stable complex between glutamyl‐tRNA synthetase and the first enzyme of chlorophyll biosynthesis glutamyl‐tRNA reductase was investigated in the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Apparently homogenous enzymes, purified after previously established purification protocols were incubated in various combinations with ATP, glutamate ...

Growth-coupled selection of 5-aminolevulinic acid synthetase mutants for 5-aminolevulinic acid biosynthesis in Corynebacterium glutamicum

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Introduction 5-Aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is a nonprotein amino acid with broad applications in agriculture, medicine, and the food industry. In recent years, substantial efforts have been devoted to enhancing its biosynthesis.
