5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) fluorescence-guided Mohs surgery resection of penile-scrotal extramammary Paget's disease

open access: yesBioScience Trends, 2017
This report aims to evaluate the usefulness of 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) fluorescence-guided Mohs surgery resection of penile-scrotal extramammary Paget's disease for achieving maximum tumor resection. Between January 2014 and December 2015, 5 patients underwent surgical resection of a penile-scrotal extramammary Paget's disease in department of ...

Structural and Functional Characterisation of a Metagenome‐Derived CYP108D18 Reveals an Unusual Dioxygen‐Bound State and Selective Hydrocarbon Hydroxylation

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 10, October 2026.
CYP108D18, identified from a hot spring metagenome, catalyses selective phenylcyclohexane hydroxylation. This P450 has an exceptionally low substrate‐bound heme redox potential. Crystal structures revealed an unusual dioxygen‐bound substrate‐free form and a persistent open active site upon substrate binding.

Simulated daylight versus conventional PDT for mild to moderate actinic keratoses: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Volume 40, Issue 10, Page 1713-1720, October 2026.
This single‐centre, randomized controlled trial showed that simulated daylight photodynamic therapy (SDL‐PDT, n = 785 lesions) was less effective than conventional photodynamic therapy (C‐PDT, n = 673 lesions) in treating mild to moderate actinic keratoses with 1‐year clearance rates of 71.0% for SDL‐PDT versus 85.3% for C‐PDT (p < 0.001). However, SDL‐

Biophysical aspects of photodynamic therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a multimodality cancer treatment available for the palliation or eradication of systemic and cutaneous malignancies. In this thesis, the application of PDT is for the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC).

Divergent roles of ent‐kaurene oxidase paralogs in rice momilactone biosynthesis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 10, Page 3776-3789, October 2026.
Rice contains a five‐gene tandem array of genes encoding members of the ent‐kaurene oxidase (KO) family, with OsKOL4 and OsKOL5 playing divergent roles in momilactone metabolism, but both acting in the production of antifungal and antibacterial phytoalexins, which are important for disease resistance.

Effects of 5-aminolevulinic acid on the growth performance, immunity and stress resistance of juvenile large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) fed low-fishmeal diets

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
A 60-day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) on the growth, immunity and stress resistance of juvenile large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) with 17.33 ± 0.10 g of initial body weight.

Reprogramming tumor immune microenvironment by ultrasound‐responsive nanoplatforms for enhanced cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesBMEMat, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
Ultrasound‐responsive nanoplatforms reprogram the tumor immune microenvironment by targeting tumor cells, immune cells, and non‐immune stromal cells to enhance the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy. Abstract Cancer immunotherapy represents a significant advancement in cancer treatment by enhancing the specific recognition and elimination of cancer cells.
