Microwave‐Assisted One‐Pot Synthesis of Alkyl Levulinates From Post‐Harvest Vegetable Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2025.
Vegetable waste is valorized through Soxhlet extraction using H₂O₂ and heteropolyacid (HPA), followed by material characterization (XRD, FTIR, TGA, DSC). A microwave‐assisted reaction at 170 °C for 30 min with HPA and alcohol yields bio‐based esters.

Highly Targeted Metabolomics Coupled With Gene Expression Analysis by RT–qPCR Improves Beef Separation Based on Grass, Grain, or Grape Supplemented Diet

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 3, Page 1483-1497, May 2025.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to use a multi‐omics (i.e., gene expression quantification, metabolomics, and fatty acid [FA] profiling) approach to separate and authenticate beef from three different dietary groups. In this 2‐year study, Red Angus steers (n = 54) were randomly allocated to one of three treatments: (1) complex biodiverse ...

Theoretical study of 5-aminolevulinic acid (5ALA) and some pharmaceutically important derivatives

open access: yes, 2007
5-Aminolevulinic acid (5ALA) is the key synthetic building block in protoporphyrin IX (PpIX), the heme chromophore in mitochondria. The addition of extracorporeal 5ALA and its alkyl ester derivatives are in current clinical use in photodynamical ...
