Generation of Pseudo Metabolites as a Side Reaction in On‐Tissue Chemical Derivatization in Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Mass Spectrometry Imaging

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 5, Issue 12, November 2025.
On‐tissue chemical derivatization reagents enhance sensitivity and specificity, but the impact of side reactions remains understudied. The reactive matrix FMP‐10 promotes Mukaiyama‐like condensation reactions between endogenous metabolites to form pseudo metabolites that are structurally identical to endogenous metabolites.

Effective Interventions for Treating Superficial Self Mutilators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Self-cutting is the most common form of self-mutilation in adolescents but there is insufficient knowledge as to which treatment methods to reduce self-mutilation are most effective.

The competitive NMDA antagonist CPP protects substantia nigra neurons from MPTP-induced degeneration in primates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Degeneration of nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons is the primary histopathological feature of Parkinson's disease. The neurotoxin MPTP (1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine) induces a neurological syndrome in man and non-human primates very ...

Neurotransmitters and Immunity: Molecular Mechanisms, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Potential Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
Role of neurotransmitters in multiple pathological processes. Various neurotransmitters, including ACh, EPI, NE, 5‐HT, histamine, DA, glutamate, GABA, and neuropeptides participate in regulating key pathological events, including tumor proliferation, tumor migration, remodeling of the immune microenvironment, and the development of NDDs and ...

Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry in Studies of Neurotransmitters and Their Metabolites in the Brain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Neurotransmitters transfer chemically the electrical impulse from one neuron to another in the brain. The concentration of neurotransmitters in many neurological disorders is altered.
