MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Life‐Threatening Bradycardia in Anti‐NMDA‐Receptor Encephalitis and a Novel Use for Permanent Pacing
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric anti‐NMDA receptor encephalitis (pNMDARE) is an autoantibody‐mediated disorder that can cause severe autonomic dysfunction, including symptomatic bradycardia and asystole. Dysautonomia can last for years, making it very challenging to manage.

Serotonergic Modulation of Locomotor Activity From Basal Vertebrates to Mammals
During the last 50 years, the serotonergic (5-HT) system was reported to exert a complex modulation of locomotor activity. Here, we focus on two key factors that likely contribute to such complexity. First, locomotion is modulated directly and indirectly

Evaluation of responses to 5-HT-enhancing drugs in NMRI mice [PDF]
In humans, the ingestion of the combination of two or more serotonin (5-HT)-enhancing drugs but also of a single drug in overdose can induce serious adverse effects, which are characteristics of the serotonin syndrome (SS).

CSF Monoamine Metabolites and Cognitive Trajectory in Early Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Background Imaging and postmortem studies indicate that abnormalities in monoaminergic neurotransmission contribute to cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it remains uncertain if cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) monoamine metabolites can serve as biomarkers of cognitive decline in early PD.

Brain Monoamine Asymmetry in Chicks Subjected to a Separation-Stress Procedure with Litter Substrate
Activation of the right hemispheric neurotransmitter systems is related to negative emotion and stress in mammals, but this relationship is not fully known in birds. The effect of the presence of sawdust litter on behavior and brain monoamine laterality

Post Natal Impact of Maternal Tryptophan Deficiency on Central CO2/PH Chemosensitivity [PDF]
Cells and mechanisms underlying central chemosensitivity, are poorly understood and can be controversial. Our overarching hypothesis is that brainstem 5-HT and/or GABA neurons contribute to detection and response to changes in pH/CO2. Our experiments are

Serotonin mediated changes in corticotropin releasing factor mRNA expression and feeding behavior isolated to the hypothalamic paraventricular nuclei [PDF]
Fenfluramine reduces hunger and promotes body weight loss by increasing central serotonin (5-HT) signaling. More recently, neuropeptides have been linked to the regulation of feeding behavior, metabolism and body weight.
