Implantable optoelectrical devices are an effective resource for the modulation and monitoring of neural activity with high spatiotemporal resolution. This review discusses current challenges faced by these devices and outlines future perspectives for the development of next‐generation neural interfaces targeting chronic, multisite, and multimodal ...

Nitroso-oxidative stress after activation of 5-HT4 receptors under conditions of colitis in rats
Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) plays an important role in the regulation of the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, including that of the colon. The response of smooth muscles, blood vessels and colon mucosa (CM) to 5-HT is realized through

Layer 5 pyramidal neurons (L5PNs) in the mouse prefrontal cortex respond to serotonin (5-HT) according to their long-distance axonal projections; 5-HT1A (1A) receptors mediate inhibitory responses in corticopontine (CPn) L5PNs, while 5-HT2A (2A ...

Interface transmigration reprograms triple‐negative breast cancer cells, triggering a shared switch toward more aggressive and invasive phenotypes. Using a collagen I interface model, this study identifies shared transcriptional changes involving proliferation, chromatin remodeling, and DNA repair pathways.

Lateral Habenula contribution in Nicotine addiction : focus on Dopamine, GABA and Serotonin Interactions [PDF]
Compelling evidence has shown a pivotal role of dopaminergic function in drug addiction. Recently, the Habenula (Hb) has attracted a great deal of attention as another target for nicotine in the brain because of its role in regulating dopamine (DA ...

This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.

Serotonin acts through multiple cellular targets during an olfactory critical period
Summary: Serotonin (5-HT) modulates early development during critical periods when experience drives heightened levels of plasticity in neurons. Here, we investigate the cellular mechanisms by which 5-HT modulates critical period plasticity (CPP) in the ...
