Human lymphocytes resistant to 6-thioguanine increase with age
Mechanisms of Ageing and Development, 1982Using an autoradiographic technique we determined the number of circulating lymphocytes that were resistant to 6-thioguanine and which were presumably mutants at the hypoxanthine--guanine phosphoribosyl transferase locus. The number in normal individuals was found to increase exponentially with age.

6-Thioguanine treatment of psoriasis: Experience in 81 patients
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1994Despite recent innovations a considerable number of patients with psoriasis cannot be successfully treated by current therapies. Our purpose was to summarize our 18-year experience with the antimetabolite 6-thioguanine in the management of patients with psoriasis. We retrospectively studied 81 patients who were treated with 6-thioguanine.

Tautomers of 6-thioguanine: structures and properties
The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1993The molecular geometries of four tautomers of 6-thioguanine (6TG) were studied using ab initio LCAO-MO method at the Hartree-Fock level. All considered species are minimum structures on the 3-21G ≡ 8 potential energy surface (PES) of 6TG as determined from harmonic vibrational frequencies calculations carried out at the same level.

Pharmacokinetics of 6-Thioguanine in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Therapeutic Drug Monitoring, 20066-Thioguanine (6-TG) seems to be an attractive alternative in both AZA- and 6-MP-intolerant and -resistant IBD populations. However, little is known of 6-TG pharmacokinetics, metabolite levels, and their correlation with drug efficacy and toxicity in IBD patients.

Treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes with low‐dose oral 6‐thioguanine
Medical and Pediatric Oncology, 1988AbstractSeveral cytotoxic agents when used in vitro in very low concentrations have been shown to induce differentiation of leukemic cells. We treated 18 patients with myelodysplastic syndromes with low‐dose oral 6‐thioguanine (6‐TG; 20 to 60 mg daily). Four patients demonstrated significant improvement in peripheral blood counts.

Characterization of the DNA damage in 6-thioguanine-treated cells
Biochemical Pharmacology, 19906-Thioguanine (TG) incorporation into DNA has been associated with cytotoxicity and DNA damage in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) and murine leukemia L1210 cells. According to alkaline elution analysis, single-strand breaks (SSB) occur in both cell types. DNA-protein and interstrand crosslinks are prominent features of TG effects in L1210, CEM, and HL-60 ...

Reversible Hepatic Veno-Occlusive Disease and 6-Thioguanine
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1982Excerpt To the editor: We read with interest the article by Gill and associates (1). We report another case of reversible veno-occlusive disease of the liver caused by 6-thioguanine in a patient wi...
