Allelopathy and Anti-mitotic Effects of Cuscuta campestris and Cuscuta monogyna Extracts on Plant Cell Division [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Plants and By-products, 2017
Some natural compounds of plants including phenols and alkaloids induce mitosis depressive that are blocked cell division. Field dodder (Cuscuta campestris Yunck.) and eastern dodder (Cuscuta monogyna Vahl.) are the most widespread obligatory parasitic ...

Solid Phase Extraction of Inorganic Mercury Using 5-Phenylazo-8-hydroxyquinoline and Determination by Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence Spectroscopy in Natural Water Samples

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
8-Hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) was chosen as a powerful ligand for Hg solid phase extraction. Among several chelating resins based on 8-HQ, 5-phenylazo-8-hydroxyquinoline (5Ph8HQ) is used for mercury extraction in which the adsorption dynamics were fully ...

Diabetogenic Action of Analogues of 8-Hydroxyquinoline

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1959
Summary6-Hydroxy - m - phenanthroline and 1-hydroxyacridine caused hyperglycemia and destructive changes of the pancreatic islet in rabbits. 5-Hydroxybenzo-f-quinoline also produced a considerable hyperglycemia. However, 3 derivatives of pteridine, picolinic acid and dipicolinic acid failed to produce significant changes in blood sugar.

Gelation Behavior of 5-Chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline, an Antituberculosis Agent in Aqueous Alcohol Solutions

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2012
It was shown that 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline, an antituberculosis agent, gels aqueous alcohol solutions efficiently. Thermal stability and gel-to-sol transition temperature of 1% gel in CD3OD/D2O (2:1) was studied by 1H-NMR.

Amphetamine-like Deferiprone and Clioquinol Derivatives as Iron Chelating Agents

open access: yesMolecules
The accumulation of iron in dopaminergic neurons can cause oxidative stress and dopaminergic neuron degeneration. Iron chelation therapy may reduce dopaminergic neurodegeneration, but chelators should be targeted towards dopaminergic cells. In this work,

Graphite electrodes modified by 8-hydroxyquinolines and its application for the determination of copper in trace levels

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2006
Surface modification by 8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid (8-HQS) or 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) on a graphite electrode through irreversible adsorption is reported in this paper. Cyclic voltammetry was used to characterize the surface behavior.
