G protein βγ regulation of KCNQ-encoded voltage-dependent K channels

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
The KCNQ family is comprised of five genes and the expression products form voltage-gated potassium channels (Kv7.1–7.5) that have a major impact upon cellular physiology in many cell types.

Involvement of Plasmodium falciparum protein kinase CK2 in the chromatin assembly pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Protein kinase CK2 is a pleiotropic serine/threonine protein kinase with hundreds of reported substrates, and plays an important role in a number of cellular processes.

Molecular Dynamics‐Guided Sterol Engineering of mRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticles Reprograms Biodistribution and Enhances Spleen‐Selective Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sterol engineering enables precise control of mRNA lipid nanoparticles by tuning membrane organization. Replacing cholesterol with bile acid‐derived sterols redirects protein expression from the liver to the spleen. Notably, CA‐20 LNP enhances antigen‐specific immune responses while exhibiting a favorable safety profile, highlighting sterols as a ...

Selective anticancer activity of a hexapeptide with sequence homology to a non-kinase domain of Cyclin Dependent Kinase 4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: cyclin-dependent kinases 2, 4 and 6 (Cdk2, Cdk4, Cdk6) are closely structurally homologous proteins which are classically understood to control the transition from the G1 to the S-phases of the cell cycle by combining with their appropriate ...

Aberrant GRP78 Phase Transition Sustains Endothelial IRE1α Signaling and Drives Blood–Brain Barrier Failure in Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Vascular Aβ40 corrupts GRP78 phase behavior in brain endothelial cells, sustaining IRE1α–TRAF2–JNK signaling and driving apoptosis, tight junction loss, and blood–brain barrier failure in cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Pharmacological IRE1α inhibition restores vascular integrity, reduces leakage, and improves functional outcomes, revealing a targetable ...

Using cAMP Sensors to Study Cardiac Nanodomains

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease, 2018
3′,5′-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) signalling plays a major role in the cardiac myocyte response to extracellular stimulation by hormones and neurotransmitters.

Genetic Ablation and Multi‐Omics Profiling Reveal CEP55 as a Key Driver of Tumorigenesis in Diverse Cancer Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genetic ablation of Cep55 in Pten‐deficient mouse models delays tumorigenesis. Integrated multi‐omics analyses (proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and spatial transcriptomics) reveal that CEP55 regulates oncogenic signaling (RAS/ERK, PI3K/AKT), integrin/FAK‐mediated adhesion, extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, and endocytosis.

Dynamic Regulation of Cellular Signaling by A-Kinase Anchoring Proteins

open access: yes, 2013
Compartmentalization of protein kinases and phosphatases through their interaction with scaffold proteins provides a regulatory mechanism to control signal transduction events at specific sites within the cell.

Role and identification of protein kinase A anchoring proteins in vasopressin-mediated aquaporin-2 translocation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Role and identification of protein kinase A anchoring proteins in vasopressin-mediated aquaporin-2 translocation. The antidiuretic hormone arginine vasopressin (AVP) regulates water reabsorption in renal principal cells by inducing a cAMP/protein kinase ...
