Survey on the presence of A. simplex s.s. and A. pegreffii hybrid forms in Central-Western Mediterranean Sea

Parasitology International, 2016
In this study, 1029 fish and cephalopod samples came from Central-Western Mediterranean (FAO 37.1.1 and FAO 37.1.3) were analysed for Anisakidae larvae research with the aim to identify possible hybridisations between Anisakis pegreffii and Anisakis simplex s.s. species. A total of 1765 larvae were detected, with prevalence values between 8.1% and 100%.

Proteomic profiling and characterization of differential allergens in the nematodes Anisakis simplex sensu stricto and A. pegreffii

PROTEOMICS, 2014
The parasite species complex Anisakis simplex sensu lato (Anisakis simplex sensu stricto; (A. simplex s.s.), A. pegreffii, A. simplex C) is the main cause of severe anisakiasis (allergy) worldwide and is now an important health matter. In this study, the relationship of this Anisakis species complex and their allergenic capacities is assessed by ...

Virulence factors of Anisakis pegreffii as potential drug therapy targets

2021
Human anisakiasis is a disease caused by infective larvae of the genus Anisakis spp. (Anisakidae, Nematoda), eliciting gastric, intestinal, ectopic or gastro-allergic form, or eventually an asymptomatic form within the Anisakis-seropositive population. Analysing differentially expressed genes (DEGs) after Illumina RNAsequencing of A.

Multiplex PCR for the identification of Anisakis simplex sensu stricto, Anisakis pegreffii and the other anisakid nematodes

Parasitology International, 2008
A multiplex PCR method was established for the rapid identification of Anisakis simplex sensu stricto, A. pegreffii, A. physeteris, Pseudoterranova decipiens, Contracaecum osculatum and Hysterothylacium aduncum. The sequence alignment of the internal transcribed spacer 1 region (ITS-1) between A. simplex s. str. and A. pegreffii showed a high degree of

Expression patterns and structural modelling of Hsp70 and Hsp90 in a fish-borne zoonotic nematode Anisakis pegreffii

Veterinary Parasitology, 2015
Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are essential molecular chaperones that are highly conserved across organisms. They have a pivotal function in responding to thermal stress and are responsible for many cellular functions. Here, we aimed to elucidate the possible roles of Hsp70 and Hsp90 in the life cycle of the parasitic nematode Anisakis, particularly third-

Immunoproteomic and Immunoinformatic Approaches Identify Sensitive Antigens for Diagnosing Anisakis pegreffii Infection

ACS Infectious Diseases
Anisakis are foodborne parasites that opportunistically parasitize humans, leading to acute abdominal symptoms and allergies. Besides gastroscopy, no other diagnostic technique is available. Consequently, it is necessary to identify specific biomarkers and then develop molecular techniques for diagnosing Anisakis infection.

Proteomic analysis and molecular characterization of Anisakis pegreffii allergenic and immunogenic proteins

In the nematode genus Anisakis, nine species are currently genetically recognized among which Anisakis simplex (s. s.) and Anisakis pegreffii have been recognised to be relevant for humans as a result of their zoonotic role in causing the disease, Anisakiasis.

Leukocyte nucleolus and Anisakis pegreffii: when falling apart actually is falling in place

2019
Introduction: Ribosome biosynthesis (RB) is orchestrated by nucleolus whose main function is rapid production of small and large ribosome subunits. Nucleolus is also essential in the sensing of stress stimuli that target ribosome biogenesis ; a condition known as nucleolar or ribosomal stress. It is exhibited through expression of several p53-dependent

Foodborne nematode Anisakis pegreffii represents a professional risk in the Croatian fishery industry

2017
The Croatian fish processing industry is an important sector encompassing almost 800 employees mainly situated in the Adriatic coastal area, with a tendency for growth since Croatia’s entrance into the EU market. We determined the degree of sensitization to Anisakis sp.
