Structure of MlaFB uncovers novel mechanisms of ABC transporter regulation

open access: yeseLife, 2020
ABC transporters facilitate the movement of diverse molecules across cellular membranes, but how their activity is regulated post-translationally is not well understood. Here we report the crystal structure of MlaFB from E.

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Search for genes gained by horizontal gene transfer in an entomopoxvirus, with special reference to the analysis of the transfer of an ABC transporter gene

open access: yesVirus Research
Although it is generally believed that large DNA viruses capture genes by horizontal gene transfer (HGT), the detailed manner of such transfer has not been fully elucidated.

Fungicide-driven evolution and molecular basis of multidrug resistance in field populations of the grey mould fungus Botrytis cinerea

open access: yes, 2009
The grey mould fungus Botrytis cinerea causes losses of commercially important fruits, vegetables and ornamentals worldwide. Fungicide treatments are effective for disease control, but bear the risk of resistance development.

Droplet Electricity Generators With Maximized Energy Collection Zone Enabled by Aloe‐Inspired Midrib and Cuticle

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

Genome-Wide Identification, Characterization and Phylogenetic Analysis of ATP-Binding Cassette (ABC) Transporter Genes in Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The ATP-binding cassette (ABC) gene family is considered to be one of the largest gene families in all forms of prokaryotic and eukaryotic life. Although the ABC transporter genes have been annotated in some species, detailed information about the ABC ...

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae ABC subfamily D transporter Pxa1/Pxa2p co‐imports CoASH into the peroxisome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
ATP-binding cassette (ABC) subfamily D transporters are important for the uptake of fatty acids and other beta-oxidation substrates into peroxisomes. Genetic and biochemical evidence indicates that the transporters accept fatty acyl-coenzyme A that is ...

Ferromagnetism of Molecular Beam Epitaxy‐grown Ultra‐thin Cr2Ge2Te6 Films Down to the Monolayer Limit on Si Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform monolayer Cr2Ge2Te6 films are achieved on Si substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. Intrinsic ferromagnetism with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is established in the films by anomalous Hall effect and superconducting quantum interference device measurements, albeit with strong magnetic fluctuations characteristic of its 2D nature.
